Please bear with me; I'm going to try to post a picture again.

RE: Quebec Winter Caribou Hunting
OK, obviously I'm doing something wrong. I tried posting the image in gif format and the file size was only 7K. I am using the "add image" button on the fast reply toolbar. An Exlporer User Prompt window opens and needs a file address entered. I enter the file adress (ie: c:\xxxxx.gif), hit ok and the image appears in the reply window. But when I post the reply the image does not appear in the forum. Help anyone??????

OK, that was a learning experience. It does not work in fast reply.
These are both from two years ago. Please forgive the Christams lights. My daughter likes to string lights in the antlers and hang ornaments on them too. |
RE: Quebec Winter Caribou Hunting
Heck of a nice bull. Hopefully I see some of those when I get there wednesday :). As for the regs, tag your animal immediately then get to the check station (there is one at km 381 I believe) within 24 hours. After that, game can be chopped, ground quartered, and skull split. I checked with both the USF&W service and the USDA....caribou are unrestricted, so just provide evidence of species (i.e. a rack) and know that the scientific name is Rangifer tarandus and you will have no problems getting back into the US. There is a form from the USF&W at the border that you will have to fill out, and you are golden.

Whip,
Did you find what you need for road maps? JR |
RE: Quebec Winter Caribou Hunting
Yes, thanks for your help snipe. I just wanted to know where nouchimi's main camp was. We will get there late wednesday, sleep in the truck, get our tags in the morning (22nd) and start hunting. I am liking the way the map looks for the time we will both be there. I will give you a call before we leave. Taking off from NE monday morning.

Whip,
James Bay is no place to be sleeping in your truck overnight. The weather forecast is calling for a low on the 22nd of -22dC; that's about 8 below zero F. You think four guys can sleep in a truck overnight in sub zero temps and then plan on hunting the next day. You should really make other arrangements. Stay at 381 and get up early and drive through the night. That isn't even that great of a plan, but it beats thinking you can sleep in your truck. JR |
RE: Quebec Winter Caribou Hunting
The way I figure, we will getinto Nouchimi late at night on the 21st. If we had a way to get the key to our outpost camp we would stay there. The problem is my friends' flight lands at 9:00 AM on the 21st.....so we have no choice but to make it the rest of the way that day/night if we want to hunt the next morning (22nd). I'm young, my body can take it.....8 below is about when we start the switch from t-shirt and shorts to jeans and long sleeves in Nebraska :) haha. Some members of our camp are going to arrive earlier than us. Hopefully early enough they can get the key to our cabin before Nouchimi shuts down at 8pm.
