some of our huge [4 m + = 13-15 ft] extremely poisonous black mamba encounters out in the bush......
they could be anywhere--on the ground, in the grass where you are walking or up in a tree under which shade you are taking a rest from the hot sun.
its neuro toxin venom will kill a grown-up inside of 15-20 min'
as solo hunters that are easily sometimes more than 10 miles from the vehicle and more than 100 miles from the nearest small town or decent hospital, this is a serious threat!

The stuff nightmares are made off! I shot this crop-raiding baboon and thought wrongly that it was dead. [Yes,even experienced hunters can sometimes make stupid mistakes!] When I entered the head high tambuki grass armed only with my spear to retrieve the carcass, I was unexpectedly confronted by a very angry wounded baboon! Some very scary action filled moments and ' harsh' words later I could luckily managed to finally kill it with my spear! Now it's crop-raiding days are over, and it is doing another service back home, but just looking at it,it sure still gave me goosebumps when I think back on what could have been! [Just have a look at those canines...]
