The special licence draws will soon be upon us in Alberta and other provinces I assume.
It seems that there is a new factor in Alberta in planning what to apply for. We had a really bad winter two years ago and Pronghorn numbers and deer numbers were effected in the east part of the province. So some people are planning to apply 999 (you get a year of priority with no chance of being drawn) some licences.
I have lots of priority for Archery Antelope and some priority for Camp Wainwright deer. But I may use the 999 so I do not get drawn this year.
With moose I usually apply for a zone close to home where I can spend more time hunting moose and where I hunt deer so I always have the chance at a moose.
But I am thinking I may apply where I may have a better chance to get a permit and a better chance to get a moose, even if I have to travel a lot farther to hunt there.

Wow this forum doesn't get a whole lot traffic. This thread was at the bottom of page #1 and I put it up last year.
Now 2013 and the draws are just around the corner again. This year I have to decide if I want to go for Primitive weapons, Camp Wainwright deer of calf moose.
I was there last year with my son who had rifle deer permits and he shot two deer but we didn't see loads. We did see some moose though and it seems the moose numbers are pretty high. I don't have an alternate moose plan so maybe that will be my choice.
