Hi , I'm Mike from New Zealand.
I have been reading the site for a few months and just thought I'd post up a few photo's of my last hunt by way of introducing myself.
Its the start of winter here, so thought I'd get in my last meat hunt before snow makes the hunting hard.
The country I was hunting in, tussock mountains of about 5000 feet

Part of a mob of 8 red deer that I encountered.

A nice young Stag for the freezer.

I have enjoyed the site so far, am heading down Tahr hunting in a few days, so hope to be able to contribute a story or two when I get back.

That's some great land you have to hunt. Congrats on the harvest.

That is some beautiful country. Looks like some great unspoiled land. Welcome to the forum.

Thanks for the coments. It's about a 4 hour walk in so you don't often see any other people there and the view is worth the walk as well.

4 hour walk. Do you have to take 2 trips to pack him out or do you have a hunting partner to help you out there?

Just one trip to pack him out. I skin and bone out the back legs, take off the back steaks and take as much meat that has not been damaged by the bullet from the shoulders as I can. It makes for a heavy pack but It's mostly down hill.
