Default Pass Ports

Anything new on the Pass Port issue? My daughter will be traveling to Alberta for Canada's thanksgiveing, with a roommate from collage. She was told she will need the pass port by Oct. 1, instead of Jan. 1. to get back home. Will Canadian res. need them to visit the states? Thanks

No - the date for land crossing is still January 2008, and there is some talk (and it may only be talk) about moving this into June/July 2008 - many are not prepared and thery are worried about loss of commerce, etc. Good idea to get ASAP, it is hte best ID you can have.

When flying you definitely need a passport. As to crossing when driving, you do not need one yet. With the Canadian dollar at par there has been huge line ups at the border crossings. Get her a passport as soon as you can. It will make the crossings a little faster.
