I don't think they are that smart either. I do think think that it has now gotten to the point where their egos won't let them realize that it is a total waste of time and money.
They just announced today that they are not going to suspend it like everyone is yelling for them to do. Again I think they just don't want to admit it is a mistake and are going ot keep flogging it one way or another.

You move a pile of dirt one shovel full at a time. As society becomes more urban, more violent, less tolerant or accepting of hunting confiscation/restriction is the logical path.

In the mid to late 60s I read a lib. party newsletter which stated " the secert agenda of the lib. party is to quitely disarm the Canadian puplic", whatever means they have at their disposal will be used such as restriction of certain types of firearms, costs in licence fees untill they get to the point that only the rich can afford and so on.Also, didn't they sign that bill in the UN on puplic ownership of firearms. The only conclusion is that they want NO PUPLIC OWNERSHIP OF FIREARMS...

Those who have registered are helping them along. Those who did not are standing in their way.
When they come to take your guns, give them all your bullets first.

I personally believe that it is about confiscation. The government doesn't know how to deter gun crime so they get the idea that if they take away all the guns there will be no gun crime. Making sure that public doesn't have guns also makes it easier to control the flock.
These are the same type of ILK as the animal rights a..holes, they view hunting as barbaric but think nothing of wearing leather shoes etc etc and sitting down to a nice steak dinner or going to Macdonalds.

If you guys will remeber back to the brain child of this Bill. Mr. Allan Rock actually said exactly what the UN believes. (Only the military and police should require weapons)

mtbyak.....a few years ago when gun control was in its infantcy,a local radio talk show host finished his hour long program with a quote of the day from " a prominant politican" ......I wish I had it word for word but it went something like this:
......with the new gun registry, the streets of this country will be safer...violent crime will be reduced drastically.....and the criminals who use firearms will be punished more severly. This is not confiscation as law abiding citizens will still be allowed to enjoy their right to hunt and shoot.
( Long pause.........)
Adolf Hitler[:' (]
1940something.....just before banning ALL firearms in Germany during WWII.
I thought this was priceless....
