Default Whats the deal with the white hutning suits?

Hey all me and a couple buddies were all wondering what is the deal with the white suits in canada? Some of us say warmth, some say its law? Can someone give me a positive answer? Thanks!

"White suits" and white snow =a really good camo? My buds and I use them for rabbit or varmint hunting during the winter when the fields are covered in snow. We seem to blend in quite well.

I would guess you are talking about hunting in Saskatchewan. Their laws say one must wear a complete outfit of red, orange, yellow (I believe) or white, or a combination of those. But your hat or "headdress" must be red.

As most Non-resident aliens (out of country hunters) are there to hunt deer in the winter, most choose to wear white. And a red touque or hat with ear flaps.

I wear an outfit I had made, I call "Saskamo".

Yes duffy is 100% correct. I prefer red in the fall and white once the snow flies. White does not quite stand out as well as a flourecent blaze orange so if you are in a highly hunted area keep this in mind. I prefer white but once I begin cleaning the animal back at my farm i strip it of to avoid getting it all blood stained. I should actually pick up a new white suit as mine has turned almost yellow from repeated washing in out well water which has alot of iron in it.

might start making suits and selling them, so I'd rather not post a pic yet.

I think the white suits are for Sask. but here in Manitoba when we are in the snow we will wear a white/grey pattern pants with the usual camo jacket. It just blends in more when you are in a couple of feet of snow.

The white suits with small dark slashes give better camo in the bush of Ontario. A white Tyvek coverall works well if you don't want to spent the money on the real thing. They're good vapour barriers as well.

By "vapor barrier" do you mean they are the "plastic coated" kind of coveralls?

They may keep rain out but would keep your perspration in. And would be noisy walking in, esp. rubbing against brush. If an animal hears you coming he doesn't have to see you he will be gone.

If I had to choose between quiet hunting cloths and camo hunting cloths I'd pick quiet every time. For big game and varmints anyway.

Have a good one!

Duffy; Tyvek coveralls are not noisy. The texture is kind of silky and very flexible. I've used them for archery deer with no problems.
