Good stuff guys.

JD that sucks looks like you may have either clipped the lower leg with the bright red spray. Take solice that if that indeed was the result he'll be fine.

Don't have a ton of time now but we knocked down a few critters north(excluding a cow elk!). I managed to shoot a dink in the forest on my second tag - 4x5 small tines, but decent beams and mass...great sausage buck for my sister. I also filled my doe tag..

I'll be back after work

Great pics as usual jd, that settles it i am goin after a good digital camera over the holidays. As for the wound i kinda go along with what skeeter said. I had a buck once i cracked from quite a distance but i thought i was good for it.Once i got on the blood trail i began to question my shot and replay it in my mind. The blood was not very high up and was only on the right side. The deer was showing me the otherside when i had shot and after studying the track more often i came to the conclusion that he was angling away i shot underneath and clipped the other front leg. Made me sick because it was a shot i have made several times b4 but mis judged distance and blew it. I looked several weeks after in that area for magpies and yotes but nothing. Hard to say if he made it or not. Here is an interesting pic of my elk from this yeaqr with her broken leg, seemed to heal up not to bad. Would be interesting to know how her leg got broke. Skeeter congrats on your deer, keep on keepin on.

My money's on a leg shot too. With any luck he'll pull through and you'll get him next year.

Congrats Skeeter! looking forward to the pics.

Man you guys out west have it all. IMO this is by far the best topic....every post is great. Lots of great stories and pics....I sure wish a Maritimer (me) could get out there hunting Whitetails someday.
Keep up the good work guys, this is all I have as our deer season has ended
We had the best season ever.....3 out of 4 tags filled. I could have filled mine as I had a doe tag but decided I wasn't shooting a doe after 3 deer were already in the deep freeze. I hunted a field that had 4 scraps on one side of it along with 1 tree rub all made within the last week of deer season but never got a chance to get my crosshairs on him........he should be there for next season. the weather was way too warm the last week which didnt' help matters at all.
