Default Question about a Leupold VX-3

I have a buddy that is wanting to sell me a new Leupold VX-3 that has never been mounted on a rifle. It is a 3.5x10x50. He is wanting $300 for it but I'm trying to get him down to $250. I have also been looking at Vortex Diamondback or maybe a Viper. How do these scopes compare as far as quality and warranty? I know Leupold is considered the cats meow by many. Which way should I go?

Well all you gotta do is look that scope up to see its well worth it. If you don't want it for $300, tell him to get on here and message me and I'll take it!

Yeah, I priced it at retail so I know it's a good deal. Just wondering what the glass is comparable to.

What ^ he said and $300 is a good deal on it if it's brand new. Leupolds are all I have on all my "go to" rifles!

I've read way to many horror stories about people over Torxing tubes on Vortex scopes to trust the integrity of the scopes themselves. I say if you need a Inch pound torx driver( which Vortex recommends) to install a tube to avoid crushing the tube. The tube is far to fragile to trust it under normal hunting conditions much less extreme hunting conditions.

While I think the glass itself is on par with its comparable price points (or close to it) ..it deeply disturbs me that I have to have a inch pound torx driver to install a scope body. I have seen Nikon and Leupold tubes with ring marks and ring gouges so deep it would make your head spin but the integrity and reliability of the scope were well in tact.

Go with that Leupold. You will be well satisfied.
