what power spotting scope or binocs for judging deer up to 1/2 mile

Spotting scopes are for "Judging" trophies..........60X is good.

Binos are for locating; 12X is what I use.

Most importantly; Get a lifetime warranty ($$$) !!!

Buy it once.

Inexpensive spotting scopes are usually not very good at high power. Some scopes will give you a big, but blurred, image at the highest power. A better quality scope will show you a sharper image and more detail at 25x than an inexpensive scope will at 60x. Heat distortion can make it hard to use highest power on even the best scopes at high power.

I believe that most guys would be better served with a bit less power.
