Thumbs down Mossberg 500 sabot scope

hello all

Looking for a scope for use on a Mossberg 500 sabot gun used for deer hunting in upstate NY narrowed it to these and looking for opinions and suggestions.

If you know of another i haven't looked at please fill me in. Keeping price to 200-250.00 is imperative.

Thanks
Charlie

I have the Nikon Slugger on my shotgun.
Shot many deer at 100 yards with that scope, I'm happy with the scope.

I have the bushnell now, good scope, not enough range for me. I'm waiting to find a 3-9x40 Nikon. My 500 has a great barrel on it, 150 yrds with Win Partion gold slugs can be made all day. Never shot 200, but I don't see why they aren't possible. Need more scope to do that, the bushnell just doesn't cut it for me. Great scope, bright, fog proof, just doesn't bring the spot in close enough for me.

Looking through the 3-9x40 Nikon is good, very bright and crisp. I didn't know about the 2-7x32, I think I'd still want x40.

if you can spare to spend $300 you can't go wrong with the Leupold VX-2, I have many of them on almost all my slug guns all in 3-9x40

I do have the Mossberg 500 in 20ga as a slug gun as well, I don't use it at all I have it for family/friends to use and it shoots very well, it has on top a Bushnell Trophy XLT with the plex also in 3-9x40, for the money it's a really a decent scope

I have the Leupold Ultimate Slam sabot/slug scope 3-9x40 with bdc reticle out to 300yds I think. I like it and that's what I'd get/suggest.

make sure you get a scope designed for a slug gun...
