Bushnell Scopes Banner, Trophy, Legend ?
Is there really that much differance between the Banner series and say the Trophy/Legend series? There definatly seems to be in price...but is the construction that much better?
Im not a target shooter...Im a hunter and as concerned as I am with hoding zero...Im also concerned with durabiltiy. My guns will get shot in then fired fairly minimaly (a quick check and then hunting every year). I know you get what you pay for...but given those 3 choices is it worth the extra for say a Legend over a Banner?
Thanks
Scott

Yes. The Bushnell Legend is a great scope. Another thing to do with Bushnell's is check their site and see how they are listed from top (top ofthe line)to bottom (lower quality - you get what you pay for)

Bushnell Trophy - $89.95
Bushnell Banner - $69.95
Bushnell Sportsman - $54.95

I own a 2x7 and 3x9 Legend scopesand they are very good scopes for the price. I believe they are equiv to the Nikon Prostaff scope.IMO spending another $40 for the Elite 3200 is well worth it also. If you settle for the Legend series you won't be disappointed. I have no experience with the Banner series.

I had a bad, bad experience years ago with a "middle of the road" scope and vowed never to go back there again ... I agree with others who have already posted here. Stay away from the bottom end if at all possible. Good glass, high tech coatings, innovative optics, rugged construction, and excellent quality control are not low cost manufacturing "techniques".
I have one Elite 4200. Came on a used ML-10 I bought. Reluctantly, I left it there for this season. I am very pleased with this scope. Does it match up with the top end Zeiss and Swarovski scopes I have? No way. But I think it is a great buy.

the extra money is definitely worth it. I myself own nothing but bushnell optics, not because I think they are the best, but because they have never failed me, and for the quality the price is right. I have a 3200 on my blackpowder and a 4200 on my a-bolt 270. Both great scopes. I recently replaced my banner 3-9 from my .17 with a banner 4-16x40. Again, great scopes for, in my opinion, rimfire rifles. My son is getting to the age where he will get his own .22 and when he has proven himself with open sights I will put a bushnell scope on his .22 and his deer rifle when the time comes.

When I got back into hunting after I got out of the service I bought a Banner 4x12x40 AO to put on my 30-06. With it on the 06 I put around 400-500 rds through it and then moved it over to a 257 Roberts that got around another 300 rds. Still going strong, I would still have it but I left it on the 257 when I sold it to a friend recently. If on a tight budget there is nothing wrong with buying the best that you can afford.

I own 3 of the 4 X 12 X 40 Banner scopes and have put thousands of rounds through the three AR's, one 5.56mm, one 6.5 Grendel and one .50 Beo. and all three scopes hold zero perfectly. I swap out the scopes with other sights and when reinstalled, they are still zeroed. I was REALLY surprised the the scope on the .50 held up, as the recoil is substantial. I also use it for nighttime hog huntingas the Banner is advertised for low light situations and I can tell you that it works well.
