I have been looking into the Vortex line. I've heard nothing but good! I almost pulled the trigger on the Diamondbacks, color blemished model for $129.00.... still researching!

You won't be sad about them......trust me!!!!! excellent bino's for that money and you cannot beat the warranty.

the blimish, is really not a blimish. my pair had a small black mark on the rubber coating, that is it....other than that....nothin, great pair of glass

Vortex is the way to go,just got a pair of 10x42's in the Fury model.................compared them to my Windriver's and they really blow them out of the water with clarity..........Great binos and an even greater price.

I personally prefer 8x over 10x. I have owned nearly every brand of optics and currently carry Lieca. I still have a pair of 10x Liecas but my "go to" pair is always the 8x. The problem I have with the 10x is when you are in thicker stuff the FOV is very narrow on most 10x whereas the 8x's give a better FOV. And if something is far away and you can't quite make it out with the 8x...it really isn't hard to ge a little closer. Not a lot of Magnification difference between the two but the FOV is bigger on the 8X and the binos are generally lighter.

I've got a pair of Swarovski 7X30's that I bought over 20 years ago and have used ever since. I completely agree with the FOV comment for viewing in wooded areas and have found the lower power very useful in those situations.

another thumbs up for the nikons-- I have had the 8x42s for a while, just picked up the 10x's also, for my son to use on a western hunt coming up. just comparing the two around these woods in northeast-- I think I prefer the8s. but I;m sure out west they will both do the trick. either way, they are quality glass, rugged, good weight and comfortable--
