Nikon Monarch vs. Leupold VX-III ?
Anyone have any experience with the nikon monarch line? not the monarch gold.... Is the Monarch Gold or Monarch Xmuch nicer than the Monarch?
Or the Nikon BDC reticle? like the circles? I have a leupold with the B&C and like it, just not crazy about those magnifications..... I'm considering a Nikon Monarch 3-12x42 sf with the BDC reticle Also considering a Leupold vx-iii 3.5-10x40 with the B&C reticle as well as the 4.5-14x40 with the B&C reticle Really think the 3-12x range is ideal, though its a good amount cheaper than the leupold, I'd rather spend more on quality then to save a few bucks at the cost of quality... |
RE: Nikon Monarch vs. Leupold VX-III ?
I have a new monarch 2.5x10x42 with NP reticle, optically it doesn't give up much if anything to the VXIII's (have as well).IMO styling sucks on the monarch, power ring on mine is stiff and eye positioning is more critical with the Monarch vs the VXIII. As far as the BDC I hate it personally, the circles are large and distracting to me. I prefer the Leupold BP of the 2.
BUTI suggest you take a boo/consider the Zeiss Conquest with Rapid Z reticle. IMO better then both of the above optically &features.. I have been playing with my newest Conquestthat has theRapid Z600 reticle, its nice and clean...I like! This is my 4th Conquest and nothing but good experiences. |
RE: Nikon Monarch vs. Leupold VX-III ?
I'd second the Conquest with the Rapid Z 600. I prefer it over the Z 800. I like Leuppy's with the B&C reticle, and very much dislike the Nikon BDC reticle. Another possibility would be the new Sightron Big Sky's with the HHR reticle. It's just enough without being cluttered.

its going on a .243.......so it looks like the zeiss Z600 fits the .243, yet they dont make the 4.5-14x44 in a z600, only a z800, which seems to be more for.300RUM or .338 rum rounds....

RE: Nikon Monarch vs. Leupold VX-III ?
The Nikon Monarch in my opinion are perfect hunting binoculars. They are designed to handle all sorts of terrain and the feature I like about them most, is their anti-reflective properties. This means the sun does not interfere with your binoculars.

RE: Nikon Monarch vs. Leupold VX-III ?
Nikon Monarch = Leupold VX-III but the VX-III has the better reticle. That BDC reticle is annoying at best. Yes the Monarch Gold has 30mm glass same as used in the Monarch as does the X. All The Monarchs have the same glass.
