I'm waiting to hear what the "it's sold at wal-mart and it's inexpensive so it must be junk" crowd has to say.
Wait no longer -

The Rifleman isn't junk because it is sold at Wal-Mart. It is, however, a pitiful attempt by Leupold (a great company that makes really good scopes and has a superb reputation of standing behind their products) at reaching down into the low-end of the scope market.

When your competition at this price point includes features such as fully-multicoatings, audible click turrent adjustments instead of the 1960's style friction adjustments, and a one piece tube, then yes, the Rifleman is not, in my humble opinion, competitive. In my opinion the Rifleman is a black eye for a great optics company like Leopold. There, I said it.

For about the same price one can get a Burris Fullfield II, Bushnell Elite 3200, or Nikon Buckmaster. These three scopes are brighter, completely fog and waterproof, and fullymulticoated. These three scopes outclass the Leopold Rifleman in my opinion. I own all three of these by the way and when comparing them side by side the Rifleman isn't in the same ballpark.

But it's a Leupold. It HAS to be a great scope....it just has to be.

I've got the 3x9x50 In the rifleman on my Rem. 7mm mag and I love It.I have killed two deer with It since putting the scope on,one was at 335 yards, and the other was 293 yards. The scope does good In low light conditions also.
