with all the interest in the archery in schools programs here in ky, and in other states, would it be a viable option to start a genesis bow class for the young shooters? maybe get them involved on the ground floor, with equal equipment, and plant the seeds for advancement? i know it would be more work for the ibo, but it really sounds like a good way to get them into 3d archery.....and the future of our sport....

We have talked about it several times and I hope to have the board take action at the fall meeting.
I am not sure how we can implement the distances. It would be simple to have them shoot the same area as the future bowhunters. But I wonder if that is enough or the right experience.
IDEAS???

experience, maybe. exposure, definately. if nothing else, it will get them out there, and let them see first hand what its all about, and whats out there available to them. all the venders, the equipment available to upgrade to in the future, and the shared intrest with others. having it in conjunction with the future bowhunters would definately be a start, but even 10 targets from close in to 20 yards would be better than nothing.
around home we dont see the genesis bows on the 3d ranges. we hear such huge great reviews of the success in the schools, but we dont see them out on the ranges at the local shoots. i think the last numbers were around 200,000 kids participating in the program. you would think with that many kids out there we could reach a few.....there were several, i think around 1200 in louisville, from several states. getting 1/3 of them involved would be huge....
getting the children out there and them bringing the parents along would definately be a good shot in the arm for all...

so, the first step to recovery is admitting you are addicted......i hope you heal well. sounds like the ranges down south are a little better on participation than the ones in central ky. i hope in the future we can get more information out to the school programs. we set a master schedule in january, and with a little help plan on getting that out to the folks in the know....
