It was in yesterda (Sat) morning paper it was spotted on Fri by a highway truck along 95 and Rt 13, they called the SPCA and they all finally got it corralled and did tests on it, they thought it was a wolf at first, but the tests revealed it was a coyote, it is supposed to be released in a wilderness area soon, I wonder which wilderness area they find around here to release it in, seems like all housing developements to me....

one thing about yotes....the do not need alot of wilderness to survive. ask the residents in california...they have invaded areas and the yotes are right in the thick of things. i watching the OZZIE OSBORNE show on mtv and they had a scene where a little dog was barking wildly. wellll, there was a coyote on the other side of the fence looking for a way in the eat his little butt:) if u go onto the delaware online web page....type in coyote where the search line is and it will pop up...pretty funny:)

I drive past there every day on my way to work. Building the Chriastana Hospital Addition. Didn't here a thing. State problably planted it to kill of all your fox. Damn them Duponts. Always thinking of themselves

Wild you are definately wrong on that one, the duPont family fights the killing of foxes, they like to chase them on horseback with hounds, when Del had the legislation about foxes those people fought it , and the killing of foxes is excluded in their chateau country. we can kill them around here if after shooting it you leave it lay, if you pick it up it becomes a violation.
They were saying the coyote escaped during transport along I 95, who knows, W&F would not put one out along 95....

There were some confirmed yote citings in Prime Hook. I have seen a yote pelt Fish and Wildlife has(or did have) in its Pocession. It was a road kill out by Blairs or Griffith Pond about 7+ yrears ago. The pelt was used in a wildlife presentation to a youth group.
A friend of mine who lives and hunts in the rural Seaford area claims he has seen 1/2 dozen yotes down there. No Doubt those rabbit, deer killin rascals are here in Delaware. I was stationed in Southern CA in early 70's. That place was lousy with yotes. I've seen 1st hand what a pack of yotes will do to deer. You could forget about owning a cat or small dog aroud there - Fast Food for a Yote!

They are killin machines - plain and simple.

BTW - the lousy fox is only 2 steps below a yote. Delaware has way way to many fox thanks to blue bloods like the Dupont bunch.
Prime example of politics in wildlife management. I can tell you what any decent Rabbit hunter will do to a Fox. No I won't - its not legal.

Get your local F&W biologist off to the side and give him a couple of brewskees and I'll bet he/she will tell you point blank they need to shoot off, thin out the fox population - big time!

if you've got coyotes movin in, the foxes will be a thing of the past. before coyotes were infested around ny, i saw lots of foxes. now, they are scarce.

Moose,
I've heard Yotes hate Foxes for whatever reason. Must be a territorial food supply thing?? Watched a show while back where pack of yotes ran down and killed fox that was trying to mooch a meal off a fresh kill. As a game hunter I'd take the fox as lesser of 2 evils. They won't damage deer herd and much less to rabbit. Yote is another story.
