RE: DE Deer Season starts in a few hours
I'll be down for Saturday, gonna glass Friday evening and Sunday morning for next week in MD as well. Gonna either goose hunt in the morning and deer hunt at night, or hunt deer in the morning and doves at night, see what the weather's doing.

RE: DE Deer Season starts in a few hours
I havent seen anything big except for the one that blew by me the other night doing mach 50.
Last night I set up in another patch of woods. I got out a little later than planned and the deer were moving from the bedding area as I came in. I let them get 100yds or so away and decided to set up on the edge of a small opening in the woods. After an hour two does began working up the trail I came down. they got within 35 to 40 yds and turned towards there right as they fed on acorns and they disappeared into some brush. I would have shot the leader, she was much larger than the little runt that was tagging along. NO BUCKS is my problem, I cant find them. Everywhere I go I am seeing deer but no bucks. One of these days, I hope.

I had the whole woods myself this morning. Was set up 2 hours before sun up. Didnt see or hear a damn thing. <img src=icon_smile_dissapprove.gif border=0 align=middle> Hunted til 9am. The mosquitos were bad but that 'No Stickin Bugs' spray is damn potent. I hope they cut that corn soon. Planning to cut out of work for an afternoon hunt sometime mid week. Hope the weather cooperates? Anyone else see/get anything?

RE: DE Deer Season starts in a few hours
I hunted 9/7 in the evening. Set-up just inside the woods about 75 yds from a soybean field next to a couple heavily used trails. About 715 4 does ( 2 big 2 little runts) came by on my left heading towards the field. they were out of range so i watched the little ones frolic around the two bigger ones. Soon they disappeared down a small hill towards the field. About 15 minutes later two of them, one big and one little one came back up the hill feeding on acorns and twigs. The larger one worked her way to about 25 yds from me. I had the bow pulled back, and when she stepped from behind a large pine tree I let it fly. It looked like a perfect hit. She jumped and fled, along with the other doe, crashing and making one hell of a racket. I waited 15 minutes and climbed down. I walked over to where I shot her...... no blood, and no arrow. I searched around till 9pm and could not find a drop. My son and i went back at 630am this morning and searched till 9am covering every deer trail that she could have taken. I feel we gave it a good honest search and still no blood, no deer, and no arrow to be found. Not a good feeling

Allen,
Sorry to hear about what happened. Its never a good feeling losing an animal. Sounds like you did everything possible to try and recover that deer though. You can only do as much as you can. It shows you respect the sport and the game we all pursue. I know it doesnt make you feel any better, but all you can do is learn from the experiance and move on. Get back to the woods ASAP and better luck to you!
