Default Thompson Park Hunt

Well tomorrow is the opening day of the Thompson Park hunt in Monmouth county......its does only, and only able to hunt till 9am, but I haven't gotten a deer yet this year so this is my best chance.

Saw a few stands up, and I'm sure I'll see more guys tomorrow.....2 guys within 75 yds of me. Had my stand up for over a week and these to guys put theirs up right near me!

I'll let ya know how it goes. Also met LIFEHOG today at the park. Nice guy.

Mike

Why is the hunt so late? The Morris County Parks hunts were over in December.

Well today was the first day of the hunt and i thought i was sitting in a pumpkin patch there were guys everywhere and there wasnt much shooting i think the rangers said only nine deer were shot everybody pushed them off the property on there way in.
I will try again tomorrow hopefully there will be less guys.
Good luck

I hunted a Morris County Park. I paid $20 (I believe)... entered the lottery... and was assigned a to specific park.

You hit it right on the head NJbowman. This whole idea has backfired. The park system turns loose all these guys into a park to kill deer but all they end up doing is running them all out before daylight. There are way too many guys in these little parks. The locals did a better job killing deer when you could "push" the parks with "no guns". The whole things a joke! Besides that it's unsafe. My cousin got hit with pellets the saturday of "buck week" by some "park hunters" who were shooting at a deer from the ground that was standing on adjoining private property. By the time he got over there they were gone. I would have loved to have caught them.
