lemond, I just dont know. It was cool this morning and I had a great view from the area I hunt. There was no wind and i got out early so i didnt spook em. With the drought and the heat, I think they are staying put (where ever they are)but unless something changes (cooler weather, wetter weather, harvested corn crops) its going to be a slow early season. Dont get me wrong, i'll be out there, but my enthusiasum is starting to wane a little.

Any day spent huntin, is better than any day spent workin,,

Days are starting to get shorter and it is part of nature they can sense these changes and it becomes part of their survival "package"until the rut then they get a little carelesws again...

Got a monster on my digital video camera 4 weeks ago. He was walking through a over grown field at 7:30 pm. A main 8 with at least a 24 inch spread. Brow tines were around 12".
I think we saw him again Friday night while out spotting. He looks even higher with a few kickers.

Watched a secluded water hole (a barrow pit) the other evening and had six bucks come in about an hour before dark. Two monster eights and a real wide six dominated the group. Was about 100 yards away.

Drove by one of my failing food plots and saw a real good buck in the back corner. Too far to see for sure points and all but he looked wide and tall. They are there same as always!! Things are looking good! Two weeks and counting!!!

Was stood up by 5am this morning. Around 6:30 2 does snuck up on me. Came a different direction than i thought they would. One headed around me directly downwind. She smelled me and took off with the second in tow. If it were the season though, she gave me a perfect broadside shot at 20yds. I would have taken it. Average size doe but the freezer is empty <img src=icon_smile_big.gif border=0 align=middle>. I'll be taking a break from the woods until right before the season. Let me know what you all are seeing out there!!
