Get out there boys the bucks are rutting big time. This 8 point came in to a doe bleat/CODE BLUE doe in heat scent bottle combo. Of course it helped to have 2 live doe "decoys" on my left that made it more real. This is the biggest buck I have ever killed...so much better to have taken him with my bow. He dressed out at 175 lbs and has a 19" spread. Too bad he broke off his brow tine. Still a great deer though. He made five scrapes out in front of me while i waited for a shot...for 2 hours. My nerves were about shot!
Good luck everyone....the guns havent scared them all away!

I checked the corn piles I put out a week ago and the trail cam to see if anything went by. Two 50lb corn piles were completly gone and the trail cam had gone 7 times by my stand. I left it out there for another week and I'll freshen up the corn next week.
Goose Hunting has sucked so I may Bow hunt next weekend. All depends on the weather.

there have to be more deer than ever in the augustine area. in the past 5-8yrs the hunting numbers have declined. i do not know how much road hunting is done at night and such, but the amount of deer taken out of that area cannot be that high. never see gut piles...saw one during the shotgun season. tracks are everywhere and a archer should have a good chance at a nice deer. this is where i enter the picture as we head to the finish line on this season

Well, this oil spill may put the kabash on waterfowl hunting real soon, so I may be back in the deer woods as soon as the weekend. Time to start a December Archery thread.
Hope you feel better soon!
