NJ Bear Permit update

Bear Permit Application UPDATE: In a 9/10/04 letter from F&W Director Martin McHugh to F&G Council Chairman Ellis, Director McHugh stated that the bear permit applications would not be released until the Game Code has been published in the Register. This would not be until after the September 30th deadline. This is DEP Commissioner Bradley Campbell's way of illegally obstructing the 2004 bear hunt. This is not acceptable and therefore copies of the bear permit application are again available from www.tnusanj.com. TNUSA NJ does not guarantee the validity or legality of this application.

UPDATE: The Fish and Game Council voted this afternoon for the Division to accept all applications they receive. I'll post the press release when it comes out tonight.

It is still available at www.tnusanj.com and some unnamed organization is printing them to be distributed to most of the major sports stores.

RE: NJ Bear Permit update

Glad to hear that, I sent in my application about 2 weeks ago.

Also I went up to my spot today to bring in my treestand, and to get the pictures from my cam-tekker. Got a few pics:

1 doe
1 doe with a fawn
no bucks at all
4 different bears: 300lbs, 250lbs, 225lbs. 175lbs.

Not concern that I didnt get no pics of bucks, in the 5 plus years I put the cam out, I've gotten only a few pics of bucks.

Don't start making freezer space just yet, they still have to process the information, schedule education seminars and issue permits. This is just step 1. Keep making calls to Campbell!!!

You shouldn't have to. The apps have not been discarded. Mine was one of the first to arrive and it's still there.

I called Mr. George Howard of the NJ State Federation of Sportsmen's Clubs, just to double check on the applications that we sent in 3 weeks ago. He stated that they have gotten the applications, and are waiting to be process, and will be done after the September 30th deadline as long as they are filled out correctly. YAHOOO!!!!!

RE: NJ Bear Permit update

Stores are starting to receive permits now and are running out quickly. The printer is putting out 5000 more as I type this. Don't forget, the apps can be downloaded from www.tnusanj.com. It is the same exact application that is being printed.

What will happen if you send in another application? Just want to make sure they don't pull a catch 22.

I just went to the hunting store near my house here in Bergen County, for some hunting clothes wash, and then ask if they had the bear application. They said they did, but was told by the state to get rid of them, they aren't the real ones

RE: NJ Bear Permit update

I was at my local archery store last night "BSing" with the guys. The owner said that there will be a bear hunt, but that he heard that those who got a permit last year, and who sends in there application this year are the ones thats goin to get the permit, since we don't have to take the class. To me they are rumers until it happens.

jbc 09-28-2004 03:12 PM

RE: NJ Bear Permit update

Who knows what's going to happen but I'll tell you this: If you don't send in an application you will not be hunting bears. Gotta be in it to win it.
