We finally have acorns this year in Armstrong Co. - it's not quite central PA but close. I've seen three different types but all are green. The deer here are feeding off the corn, apples and crabapples. However, it appears that the deer have been visiting under the oaks checking for the early falling nuts.

Im not sure about acorns, but I have seen some nice bucks in central PA. I live in MD now, but am originally from Clearfield County, near Black Moshannon. Was home this past weekend and saw about 3 good racks and my brother saw 4 while spotting. Should be a good year!

The feeding patterns on my peice of land are a little different this year due to some fields being there that weren't there last year. But have been seeing some good bucks lately. A few nice shooters. Yeah drop me a line when you are coming down, it would be great to put a face with the name. Black Moshannon is just a hop skip and a jump away. In fact alot of people use steele hollow road to get to black moshannon. Your right central and north central PA is very beautiful, I couldn't imagine living anywhere else.

I enjoy central/north central PA as well. Unfortunately, my career field doesnt yield any jobs around that area so I had to move to MD. It is decent down here...at least I found hunting ground!

Black Moshannon is only a few miles from where Im from. Great place. Hunting, mountain biking, fishing. I grew up there doing lots of outdoor activities.

When I went to check my trail cam this past weekend, I did notice acorns. Looks like a red oak year in my area.

Is it Oct 2 yet?

I just talked to my Dad,,our land is bordering clinton/centre co.'s in the Sugar Valley (Loganton) area. He said the acorns are spotty but deffinately better than last years. he was trimming the archery stands out & said he saw sign of a buck thrashing some small saplings & the trails were being used heavily,,,so im getting excited!! After last years struggle to even see a deer it aint gonna take me much to get excited.

Good luck to all this season....

One area I hunt in northern Lancaster County is very spotty with acorns. Most are nickel sized. But go 6 miles north in southern Lebanon county and they are abundant and large. Lebanon did not have all the rain that hit Lancaster and York counties. That's my only guess on why there is a big difference in such a short distance. It seem that north of the Pa. turnpike the acorns and beachnuts are abundant and south it's very spotty.
