The Delaware Division of Fish and Wildlife has added eight (8) days of
firearm deer hunting and one (1) day of muzzleloader hunting this year.
The firearms dates are October 1, 2, 18, 22, 23, 25, 29, 30 and will be
for anterless deer only. Shotgun or muzzleloader can be used during these
dates. One day of muzzleloader hunting, October 8, had also been added to
the week long October muzzleloader season.
Deer hunting days are being added in an attempt to harvest more does to
maintain a healthy stable deer population in balance with existing
habitat.
All State wildlife areas will be open for the new days except for the
Augustine, Assawoman, Cedar Swamp, Woodland Beach and Ted Harvey areas.
These areas will continue to offer archery only hunting during the new
firearm seasons. For more information about the new deer season dates,
contact the Wildlife Section at (302) 739-5297.

They have not posted these updates to the DNREC Website yet, but i'll take OLDSNOWS word for it.
Unless you are a farmer who is having major crop loss because of deer, WE MUST NOT PARTICIPATE IN THESE GUN SEASONS!!!!
These seasons were thrown together with no research. This format has no historical data from other states to prove that it will be effective. Not only that, DNREC cant even prove there is a deer overpopulation problem. Im sure in some areas there is a problem, but setting these seasons up state wide is irresponsible. It really pisses me off and makes me sick. This is all political, there is no research or science in this at all.
Bowhunters, kiss your quality hunts in October good bye. Shotgun hunters, forget seeing any quality deer in Nov because they'll all be gun shy, rut or no rut. And mark my words, write this down, after the 1st year increase in harvest because the deer will be caught off guard, the kill rates will drop. The deer will wise up after one season.
Im going to go throw up now. Good Night.
PS: Protest these seasons by NOT participating. If the harvest doesnt rise, DNREC wont have a leg to stand on next year. Help save the deer from over harvest. Save the resource. Save our hunting heritage.

You can take his word for it I got the updated schedule at the State Fair from the Buckmasters booth, in fact the F&W rep wrote it in my book. My protest will be sitting in a deer stand on Oct 1, with my 870 and copper coated slugs.

i agree ronm...i am not a shotgunner or smoke poler, it doesnt matter to me. u can still killl a nice deer. it only take 3-4 days of no shots being fired and they will peek out of those places to look for some BADUZZY. nov is always hot and guys kill huge deer with shotguns...remember....scout hard and get that place that u know will have a good pop of does and u can get that buck...doe or whatever...dont give up because of 8 additional days of firearms. i do understand your point about the research or stats not being done.
