He's not out of the woods, but to me he looks better. If he can make it another few weeks, the high protein buds will be coming out and he'll be well on his way.

Nature has a was of weeding out those who are week...Apparrently this guy isn't!

Thanks for the update and pics!

He should make it, these animals are survivors!! In the early 90's we had a doe come on to the farm we were hunting in Orange county NY, with a hind leg dangling. We tried to dog that doe and put her down, and couldn't do it, she always stayed ahead of us. I read where a deer biologist claimed that a broken hind leg is always fatal to a deer. Well, thats just NOT so. The following spring, we saw her on the farm, leg chewed off cleanly, and she had healthy twin fawns.

Great story, would hate to see this deer lose the battle now.

I, too, suggested you might take em down. I am glad the little guy is still hobbling about. He does look gaunt but I've seen a lot worse. You were fortunate to get such great photos. Just like a person on deaths door you can usually detect terribly sunken eye sockets and a ghastly look as if they were already dead. That little fella looks pretty bright eyed considering what he's been through this winter. My guess is he shall survive.

I followed your original post about Limpy Leg too and I'm glad that he's still pulling through. From your description, I was a little confused about his ability to survive and I'm happy to see that he's made it this far. Just a few more weeks and he should be in good shape. With a little more luck, he'll get a lot of strength back and be a healthy year and a half year old next season.
Thanks for sharing the pics.
