RE: NY Southern zone
JUSTIFICATION : Rifles would enhance the number of people entering
the ranks of active and participating sportsman, thereby increasing
state revenue for license sales and serving to control the ever
increasing deer population. Additionally, when considering the new
magnum and sabot ammunition for shotguns, their range and accuracy has
increased in such a manner that safety is no longer of great concern.
Thus, it is the opinion of the sponsor that the ban on rifle hunting
in the Southern tier, Central and Western regions should be lifted .
Can you believe this
SAFTY IS NO LONGER OF GREAT CONCERN[:@]

RE: NY Southern zone
I guess I still hold to the opinion that there's more good (ie. smart) hunters then bad,
I hope you are right, but I would hesitate to assume such a thing.
I think we are going the wrong way here. We need to backtrack and reduce the capabilities of how far a slug will go etc.............. What's it going to be like in 20 years when my kids are in the woods? Automated guns? air assault? grenades? Draw the line where it is now!!!!

It's the small % of idiots that screw it up for the rest of us.
Heck, I bow hunted during gun season as much as I did gun hunt.

RE: NY Southern zone
There you have it Bowhunter,
In your words lies wisdom.
Hopefully we'll still be able to hunt NYS (or anywhere) in 20 years.
But you mentioned your children and that'sthe key.
Teach them early and teach them well. Remind them, of all the senses, "common" sense is available to all but held by only a few. If we would all do that we'd all feel safer in the woods.
