RE: Jealous hunters
Thats the risk you take when you put a stand on public ground. Its not 'your' tree my friend. Its everyones. Now I'm not saying it was right for someone to destory your stand and then put one up 50 yds away. But I wouldnt have shed a tear if you had said that your rig was just wrecked. Permanent Stands on public ground should be illegal. The fact you put a stand there and tried to claim the place as 'yours' is what causes all the problems. Stands on public ground should be carry in, and carry out. First come, First Served. One of these days Fish and Game will come to their senses and make 'No Permanent Stands' the law. Until then, they'll always be problems. But I wouldnt have shed a tear if you had said that your rig was just wrecked Good luck, and please stay away from the public lands in NJ, let the true sportsmen enjoy them. Doug |
RE: Jealous hunters
even when you have suggested even more violence and property damage to portable stands and the hunters who leave them in the woods. Just so you know, permanent stands ARE illegal on public ground But even though I know and like your Dad, I don't think I would want to share a hunting camp with you please stay away from the public lands in NJ |

and maybe dish out a short stay in the emergency room to go with it. |
RE: Jealous hunters
ORIGINAL: Duckmastor2 and maybe dish out a short stay in the emergency room to go with it. You just don't get it. Damaging someone elses property, or stealing a stand is a crime, despite what you feel about a hunter leaving a portable stand in the woods. A police officer using the means necessary to subdue someone resisting arrest is not only the job, it's the right thing to do. How can you compare the two of them? As for your 'tripping over the line' comment, if you want to be a trespasser, go ahead, but if you resist or attack a law enforcement officer who catches you doing it, you will find out I'm not the only cop who will use force, in the woods or out of them. |

In fact, I stay as far as I can away from anyones property line. The facts are, you and I have totally different opinions on the use of stands on public lands. You believe its ok to hang as many stands as you want and others should respect the time, effort and money you spent and stay away. I, believe that by doing what you do, you are trying to monopolize public land for your own use. In my opinion, people like you are the problem. Just because I dont shed tears when your stands get ruined or disappear, doesnt make me the criminal. I just would never report it if I saw it. If that makes me 'unethical' in your eyes, so be it. Every stand you hang makes YOU unethical in my opinion, and Im sure you dont care about that. As for the character issue goes, I'll state here infront of the entire viewing public that you scare me. That fact you boast about 'carrying extra handcuffs' into the woods to haul in violaters reaks of vigilantism. with your obvious pleasure in seeing someone's property destroyed perfectly illustrates my point about your ethics, or lack of them. And it also justifies my conclusions about your character |

Well buddy, you must have problems with just about every other law abiding hunter out there. By the rest of your post, it seems you also have a problem with police officers and landowners enforcing trespassing laws. Scott, we've been through this many times before. It's obvious that you are not going to change your mind, and I'm not going to change what I do. I respect your opinion, until you get to the point of either explicitly or implicitly condoning the theft or destruction of another hunters property. In my opinion, the spirit of your initial post did just that. Since this is doing nothing constructive and only spiraling downward, lets just say that maybe that opinion of your initial post was wrong, and drop it. Good luck. |

Good Luck tomorrow. 000, sorry if Doug and I distracted people from your initial post. Blasting your stand and placing a new one 50 yds away was wrong. At least the guilty party will be easy to find. What you'll do once you confront him/her, I dont know. Let us all know what, if anything, happens. |
