Tomorrow 11/12/16 is the opener of Vermont's 16 day deer rifle season. Good luck to everyone and stay safe.

Thanks CI. Sounds like it will be a cold one for a change. Maybe the deer will be moving.

Good luck to all.

Yup...headed out the door as we speak. I have a buck tag and some empty space for it in one of my freezers. Getting down there and hope to not have to buy a beef.

The rut is going strong here in the Vermont Champlain Islands. I filled my buck tag with a 150 pound 5 point. He was grunting up a storm and was chasing does all over the field he came out in and I had to shoot him on the fly. 10 minutes after I killed mine I heard a neighbor shoot and his son got a very nice 8 point at least 180 pounds. After dark we were admiring our deer and another neighbor showed up with a massive 8 point dressed out to 227 pounds...a real monster. Must be that super moon.

I had no luck saturday or sunday (only tried morning). I am trying friday afternoon, and sat. and sunday this weekend in Lincoln by the green mountain forest. I've got some big bucks on my trail camera, tons of activity, fresh droppings everyday (a lot), obvious high density trails. So I am still hoping to get something. I'll be very happy with a small buck, this is my first year hunting so anything legal would be a trophy. I wouldn't shoot a 3 point though.
