Pumpkin Chunkin in Delaware
Does anyone know about the Pumpkin Chunkin’ festival down in Slower Lower Delaware? If so, does anyone know the velocity at which the pumpkins are launched from those pneumatic cannons. I saw the distance for the 2nd place pumpkin was 3800+ feet. With a 10lb pumpkin, that would be a lot of kinetic energy. I was going to try to figure it out but need the velocity.

Hey BarnesX, I actually taped that show called Punkin' Chunkin' off of the Discovery Channel. I was thinking that they were hitting somewhere around 1500 fps. Maybe I' ll throw that tape in the VCR and watch it again. On second thought, why don' t you e-mail me and if I can put my hands on the tape, I' ll send it to you. That is, if you haven' t seen it.
