If you purchase a PA resident hunting license and then move to another state is there anything that has to be done?

That's a good question. Were you a resident when you bought it? If so, I think you're good. Just hunt out the season with it.

What would the alternative be? Throw it away and buy a very expensive non-resident license?

believe as long as your were a legal resident at time of purchase your fine for rest of the year,
whats the requirement for legal resident? reside in PA for at least 6 months prior to obtaining license?
no requirement that i know of having to remain resident after that,

i would say as long as your have your hunting license and some back up like PA drivers license your good to go.

I was a resident when I bought the license. The requirement I believe is that you have to hold a primary residence for 30 days prior to purchasing the license.

As long as you were a resident at the time of purchase you are fine. What some states frown upon is having resident license in more than 1 state.

Or before you leave get a lifetime license, if you can afford it, which is good even if you leave the state. Check with the Game Commission on the requirements. that way if you return for a visit or permanently you already have it. It also protects a little from future fee increases

Once you leave the state your residency is no longer PA. therefore your resident license is no longer valid. It doesnt matter if you buy a senior lifetime license or not. You have to show proof of residency to renew it every year.

Dale I don't believe that is correct. When I moved to FL I still had my permit to carry concealed firearms which I kept with me when I hunted. The regs state: So if you carry a tax receipt you should be OK for the remainder of the season. This is the only info I can find in the regulations:

Like some others said, you should be fine for this season. Next year though, you're SOL on that.
