Long Island Hunters....finding some private land to hunt
Hey guys,
Over the past few years I have gone away to college and am not able to go upstate every weekend to get my hunting in, this has got me to thinking about finding some places here on the island to hunt, but i'm not really sure how to go about finding a place to hunt. My best idea is to go out to the vineyards and ask around see what they have to say, then move around to local farms. Has anyone ever done this? What are the feelings towards hunters going door to door? And any idea's you guys have on the topic would be greatly appreciated. And I am by no means looking to steal someones hunting property i'm just looking for good advice so don't be afraid to tell me anything, thanks guys i really appreciate the help.

I dont hunt LI
but know few that still do
go through DEC lands
also,
look up DEP lands you can hunt,
they are mostly westchester area, but beleive they also have huntable lands on LI
best advise, get out and hunt, worth the 2-3 hr trip outside NYC/LI
do you drive? have a friend that drives?
as for private lands?
wont know till you try , sure it will be tough going,
