Default Planning for NY State deer hunting this fall

Hey guys,

I know this is a long way off, but, I am looking forward to coming back up to central New York, up to my sister & brother-in-law's farm (DEC area 7M).

I found a cool link that I wanted to pass along too. This is a chart showing various deer feeding times based on location.
http://www.deerfeedingchart.com/

Type in your zip code, and scan through the months. Note the sunrise/sunset times according to the deer feeding times. Pretty interesting...

From what I see on the DEC website, is firearms season (Southern Zone) starts November 19th. Check out Nov 19 on that chart! It looks to be a great opening day in November!

Solunar tables. I never understood how to get the deer to read the charts.

@Terasec, I'm an avid deer hunter and I'm also the developer of www.deerfeedingchart.com. I hadn't tested with an NYC zipcode and thanks to your post, found a bug with NYC zipcodes and my website.

Other zipcodes seem to be working well though. Anyways, I'll fix the bug and let ya'll know when it's fixed. Thanks for the heads up!

Good luck in the woods!

Cedarleaf, I didn't know you created that website. Nice job!

I found another website straight from Field and Stream's magazine that shows the best days to hunt.

http://www.fieldandstream.com/weather_hunt

Type in your zipcode, and choose either deer, turkey, fish, upland birds, etc...

I've always sort of been intrigued by the research of Charlie Alsheimer / Wayne LaRouche (sp.?). Charlie lives in Steuben Co. NY (Bath area) and possesses a wealth of white-tailed deer knowledge. They have developed hunting tables (based on the "hunter's moon") that are widely published every fall. I've spoken to him on various occasions (at seminars and such). He is a gentleman and basically a real person. Check out his work for good reading.
