crossbows
newer compounds are way to go, not crossbow.first crossbow is HEAVY.you get only 1 shot from tree and they are only good to 35 yards in my opinion .they are noisy.
new compounds are deadly and once set up with let=offs they are accurate as h.they are quiet and you can get second shot.
WEIGHT of crossbows are biggest complaint i hear from ones that use them, just heavy as h to carry into woods.
next is noise they make.most thought they could shoot 50 yds or more on deer, they are doing it but finding out they are wounding deer or missing completely.
in -lines are selling 5 to 1 on the crossbows here in pa.they allowed in-lines in archery now in pa.

I have a crossbow permit because I have a bad right shoulder. I have had 2 surgeries and the last one fixed enough stuff to stabilize my shoulder where I felt comfortable enough to shoot my compound bow again.
Now on to my point....
I find a crossbow is a bigger pain in the ass to carry around the woods, hands down. Lord help you if you get caught by a doe when you are already holding it to your shoulder, the things are so top heavy it's a feat to keep up there. As far as accuracy, from 30-50 yards it sure is a lot easier with a crossbow, but from 0-30 yards I'm as lethal with a bow, not quite as tight of a group, but certainly in the inside ring. Clicking the safety off is easier than drawing a bow when the deer is present, but highly overrated by non crossbow users. You still have to bring it up to your shoulder and it's a huge visual to do that. Basically I am saying that people really get in arms over nothing about crossbows. It extends your range and can cut down movement on the shot, not much else.
