lemond33, The deer are in the fields (soybean) in the morning. But, I'm hunting about a half mile away near the bedding area. Saw about 15 Saturday am up until the rains started at 2pm. MMMmmissssed a good buck (twice) pushed off a neighboring property. I couldn't get him stopped. It was a ten yard shot..first arrow went behind him. He stopped when the arrow hit the frozen ground, second shot...way rushed...went right.
Saw a couple little does in the afternoon. Same stand near the bedding area. The weather was crappy and I saw about 10 other hunters on the property next door!
I don't hunt fields this late in the season. Not many bucks show during daylight hours and if they do, they get there very late. I prefer to find a staging area or a secluded food source. Good luck this week!!

lemond33 - The bucks I'm seeing, as of last weekend, still had both horns. My father killed one last night and his horns were still attached. However, a friend found a pair of sheds Wednesday night on the way to his stand. Nice sheds...matched 4X4 found in a cut bean field.
Good luck! Heading out this weekend? Times a tickin' away!!!

lemond33, This late in the year, I doubt if you missed much!! Probably better off sleeping in. A friend stood me up Saturday a.m. and I watched seven deer head right to his vacant stand!!! Ahh what a sweet redemption!!! You going out many more? Last chance!!!!!! Good luck if you go!

lemond33, good luck Wednesday! I tried a new area Saturday evening that I had not hunted since early November. Its an extensive, recent, clearcut border on the south by ten foot pines and to the west by tall hardwood timber. I sat the edge in the tall timber section so I could see a long distance and was rewarded with the sighting of 15 deer. Ten came out of the pines. Only buck was a small spike that harrassed a doe in front of me for more than 20 minutes! All were feeding on green browse in the clearcut. They seemed to stage here before moving towards fields about a half mile away. Don't know if it'll help in your plan, or if you have access to such a place, but the clearcuts seem to be holding some deer here lately. Again, Good Luck!

/ i will at again on wed...shotgunners will b out...they r nutz
