Default How far from feed/bait in PA????

My cousins non hunting neighbor has a feeder in his yard, does anyone know how many yards away his tree stand has to be from bait/feed in PA. to be legal to hunt? I think its 500 yards but not sure?. Thanks Pike.

There was a thread about this a little while ago. Maybe you could do a search.

Some guys suggested talking to the local game warden, just to make sure you're legit. Some guys figured that was just asking for trouble. I forget if they gave a specific yardage, though.

Not sure but it is far from what I hear. Anti's have used this to shut down hunting on adjoining properties before. They bait and then call the GC on anybody hunting nearby.

Yeah its all judgement, i believe there isnt a specific distance you need to be from the bait. The rule is that if your hunting an area where deer changed their patterns to get to bait then it is illegal, which obviously there is no positives to whether that is the case or not so its completely judgement.

I too have always understood that it was a judgement call and there was no specific distance away you needed to be.

Thanks for the reply's guys!! Im just going to tell him to call the PGC. and explain the situation. Hopefully the WCO will see that he isnt trying to get an advantage etc. but just trying to be able to hunt his property. Pike

Maybe the WCO will come out and see what he thinks, and may give the go-ahead to hunt.
