I think your right in accessing that the issue is far from over,,,but what this thread shows is that there are more hunters relying less upon what the PGC's outlook on the current herd #'s are and hunters are taking it upon themselves to assess their own individual hunting grounds being public or private and making good decisions on whether or not to go "Ape Sh!t" this hunting season and fill every tag they can get their hands on! For me this has been one of the best threads i have read in a long time,, because it shows me that we as hunters ,,landowners,,,etc,, are willing to accept responsibility when it comes to the current outcome of herd reduction,,as far as im concerned "we" as hunters contributed to this problem and now "we" as hunters have to do our part to fix it. JMO tho.

Prior to 2000,were you ever able to get six doe tags for the area that is now 2G?

DMAP tags are doe tags and if there were as many hunters in 2g as there were during the 80's you wouldn't be getting 6 DMAP tags and you wouldn't be hunting deer that had experienced very little hunting pressure.

It is easy to kill a deer that hasn't been subjected to hunting pressure ,since they follow their normal patterns and are are lot less wary than a deer that has been pressured. The deer in our area are so pressured ,they don't even expose themselves in the off season ,which is why we see very few deer during the summer or fall.

You're wrong.The deer around here get pressured and turn nocturnal just like they do everywhere else.Just because I don't see orange blobs every 20 yards,doesn't mean the deer aren't pressured.Pressure helps during rifle season.It keeps the deer on their feet and moving.

That is what you said about the pressure in 2G. Pressure in 5C is seeing 2 hunters while on stand and more than half a dozen hunters if moving. Your success rate in 2G is due to the fact that hunters from out of the area no longer bother to stay in camp for more than a few days and don't think it is worth the time and expense to drive to 2G for the weekends. You are one of the few hunters that benefit from the PGC's mismanagement of our herd, but you couldn't duplicate your success in 5C unless you had an area where you had exclusive hunting rights.

You're probably right.Every year I fill every tag I have for public land in the wmu that has the lowest dd and the lowest success rates in the entire state.That probably is alot easier to accomplish than hunting in 5c.Don't forget I also fill at least 4 tags in TL.It does have a high deer density but it also has the highest hunter density that I've ever experienced.Sounds kinda like 5c,eah.

It's funny how you like to talk about how bad the hunters have it in 2G because the PGC mismanaged the herd so bad and then say how I benefit from all that.Don't you get winded talking out of both sides of your mouth?

So you killed 6 doe in 2G , 4 in TL plus a buck for a total of 11 deer ,yet you claim you don't have much time to hunt or scout. You also said it was hard hunting in TL due to the pressure, but it is easy on SFL with little hunting pressure. Whose talking out of both sides of their mouth.
