Taki,
I deer hunt in Connecticut in Fairfield county among other locations but I have been hunting public land. I have not done much door knocking but I hear it is tough to get permission. You have to go through a lot of No's before you get a yes. The hunting is good compared to Mass. Here are some links that you might find helpful.

Ct Hunting and Shooting, a great Connecticut forum. There are a lot of great guys on there, but it is a little slow now. The season starts on September 15th so it should start to pick up:

I have hunted North Canaan in the past... getting harder & harder to get permission...
lost one spot... many doors slammed in our face.. have one small private spot left... hopefully will stick a doe to fill the freezer befor MA & NY start.

Good luck.
I have access to a couple of places not in Fairfield County. My secret, none really. You have to know the people outside of deer season and before you ask permission. Remember if someone is willing to give you permission simply because you knocked on their door, it is almost certain that you aren't the first and won't be the last (kind of like women). So even if you get permission, you will have to share what are usually tiny parcels. But again, good luck.
