Well, looks like I may have been mistaken on the "booting". Dang thing wouldnt let ME log on at all yesterday after several attempts throughout the day, but would allow others to which I could see were online. I was also able to log on with a new sign on name cornelius08~ ...but not my regular id. Sorry for the accusing Steve-o, but it was the only thing that made sense.

A forum dedicated to a dozen states. What's the problem with asking for responses concerning/regarding just one of those states. Crokit - less then 20 miles from me, but never hunted there - know a couple who do pretty well in the swamp. Tough hunting.
I'm lucky enough to have a private farm I can hunt about 3 miles from my door - 15 minutes to about a doz stands. Also about 400 acres of state land bordering me in the back - interesting there openinf weekend of shotgun. Steve |

No - not Lynn.
I'm on the south east side of Owasco Lake. There are several sections of state land within 10 miles or so. Bear Swamp is a good one off 41A between Skaneateles and Homer. Surrounded on 3 sides by farm and close enough to the 2 hunting preserves that a few escaped hogs have been shot. Sounds like you are a little further north. Steve |
I googled Owasco Lake. Our friends farm would be north and west of Owasco Lake.

My letter to the DEC paid off here! The DEC or any state game agency really has no business managing for trophy bucks. It's sole responsibility is to control the herd numbers which has nothing to do with how many antler points a buck has on it's head before he gets shot. I applaud the DEC for not letting itself be bamboozled by a few "sportsman" groups who think they speak for all hunters in NYS. I have no doubt that there are MORE hunters in NYS that just want a good hunting experience and a bit of meat than there are those whose only interest is shooting trophies.
