PA DEER MANAGEMENT SEARCH ON YAHOO.

Was just thinking about looking through some things about pa deer management, maybe to get a few laughs, or see if anything new has been posted etc...

Typing in the keywords "PA DEER MANAGEMENT" on google can only leave one shaking their head and snickering. Cant help but laugh. I type in other states Plus deer management as keywords regularly and get lots of interesting links etc....

There is much discussion about the low level of hunter satisfaction here and has been for years on many other Pa message boards, so it probably comes as no surprise to most.

First page search results.
1. Link titled "DIRTY LITTLE SECRET BEHIND PA DEER MANAGEMENT". From some womens sportsmen group who apparently think the deer plan is attrocious and a sham and point to audubon societies very inappropriate lead role in it.

2. DCNR complaining about deer as always.
3. The 2005 AUDUBON SOCIETY DEER REPORT/ANTIDEER report. SOme of the biggest contributors to our deer program, and its no wonder its "nonhunter" friendly.
4. Robert Fryes "DEER WARS" book about Pas failed (my assessment) deer plan and hunter outrage. Little hint; its not titled "deer wars" because everyone loves the game commission deer plan. lol
5. Pa game commission site.
6. Pa deer.net giving their pgc supporting position statement on hunter discontent with deer program. "the deer management program has been underfire by numerous sportsmen throughout the state."
7.Ex-pgc deer teamsman/dcnr consultant and audubon nut Shissler giving his evalutation/damage control because of all the dissent and pgc not getting their fee increase.
8. QDMA.
9. Shissler again.

And that all folks. Quite a line-up eh? Someone wanting to learn about pa deer management learns quickly that all is not hunky-dory in the keystone state. [:'(]

Great Cornholio

Maybe if you spent more time scouting this time of year and knocking on doors instead of pissing and moaning about PA deer management on the internet you would have better than "poor" deer hunting in 2A. A WMU where 20 deer were harvested last year for every square mile of forest.

RE: PA DEER MANAGEMENT SEARCH ON YAHOO.

obviously you never read the Deer Wars Book. I suggest you read the book before jumping to conclusions on what it's about. It covers a wide variety of issues. It isn't just about people who hate the deer policy in PA.

RE: PA DEER MANAGEMENT SEARCH ON YAHOO.

My success rate is just fine thanks for the concern Gino. Ive also been out quite a bit lately again, thanks for the tipIf my success rate ever suffers and Im looking for suggestions from an antideer flower sniffer, you will be the first person I consult..[:'(]

I could scout 24/7 365 days of the year, and the hunting overall in the wmu (or any other) wouldnt be rated any higher. And that is according to MY standards which takes much into account. Including but not limited to comparing to previous, comparing to other states Ive hunted, and comparing to what should be expected from a hunting area and deer management program.

"A WMU where 20 deer were harvested last year for every square mile of forest"

With a huge amount of the wmu being nonforested, yet some of the best deer habitat type to be found anywhere. Edge habitat, reverting cropland, croplands, pasture, blackberry greenbriar etc. thickets galore. etc. Not very impressive. Might sound as such with very creative statements such as yours. Until you look at the fact we fell from around 2nd in buck harvest to around the middle of the pack. And we now harvest as many buck in a several county area as we once did in ONE. Lmao. Kinda knocks some of the spunk out of your deception tactics doesnt it? LOL

Your futile attempt to discredit with your addition of nothingness to the thread was kinda "creative". But the post I made had nothing to do with my wmu or my satisfaction. It is what it is. SPeaks to the pizz poor situation our state is in currently, and it speaks for itself.

RE: PA DEER MANAGEMENT SEARCH ON YAHOO.

"obviously you never read the Deer Wars Book."

Ive read enough of it to kill my apetite for reading. I thought it might be interesting, but when I saw the level of bias on the part of the author, when the book was supposed to just tell the tale from a completely unbiased perspective. It wasnt the case, so Id seen enough and have no further use for the book.

And once again I'll say it, DEER WARS is not titled as such because our state is in a state of harmony with our deer program and that was my point all along.
I dont see you trying to say otherwise, so not sure why you even chose to act as if I were mistaken in some way. The book explains the history etc...But the entire reason for the book is because of much disagreement in deer management issues currently. Just pointing out the fact it wouldnt even exist if our state were singing koom-by-ya. as is the case if you believe what you read when rsb and a couple of others tell it. LOL.

In first page search results for our states deer management We have a book about "deer wars" a few audubon and audubon affiliated threads, dcnr complaining about deer, and everything else exactly as I stated....You see no problem with that, but are concerned about wether or not Id read the book?

Professionals. Though I dont consider extremist obtuse minded ecoflakes like the audubon crew who structured our deer plan as "professionals". There are far more fitting words to describe them.;)

Found in about 5 minutes and not even the tip of the iceberg concerning posts that at the least mention hunter dissatisfaction here, or are otherwise related to low hunter satisfaction. Corn, first: I checked through the links you posted and I must say.I don't see those links carrying much clout. They would have had they all been up to date.Butsome are five years old. Enough about the links. I'll ask you this instead. Each year, the PGC sales a certain amount of antlerless tags per WMU. Each year, most of the WMU's tag allotments are sold out. They are also sold out fairly fast! "If", we have so many disgruntled hunters in Pa. as being claimed by some. Who then is buying all these antlerless tags and harvesting the deer? If the deer numbers are so low? Why then are hunters buying antlerless tags? Why are the hunters using the tag and harvesting a deer?

"Corn, first: I checked through the links you posted and I must say.I don't see those links carrying much clout."

I didnt ask for an opinion, though to each his own. They are as was stated. Nothing more. Nothing less. Hunter satisfaction is in the gutter. You dont have to like it.

"They would have had they all been up to date. But some are five years old."

They are ALL since the deer sham began. And that was the point. There are plenty enough from 07,08,09 a helluva lot which i didnt post. When I get paid by the hour for the huge undertaking, I might then think about posting EVERYTHING. Till then, your Yahoo or Google search feature works as well as mine does. Let me know if you have trouble locating them. Im sure just about anyone on this site, even those from across the country could help you find them. LOL..;)

Many reasons. Stupidity or lack of understanding on the part of some. Most certainly arent "educated" in depth on game management, and I see no problem with that. Greed on the part of others. Then again, some see the problems we have, yet strongly wish to harvest a deer. Its a big deal for them to do so. When its legal, who are you to judge them? Pgc is paid to manage the herd. Not them.

"If the deer numbers are so low? Why then are hunters buying antlerless tags? Why are the hunters using the tag and harvesting a deer? "

I purchase 2 or 3 antlerless every year with zero intent to use. Others do as well, and still more simply do not buy them. With 900,000 hunters, less than half intending to use their tags would still be more than the total numbers of most states hunters.

Little "off topic" but worth a look.... We all know the idiots at audubon were VERY intstrumental in the formation of our deer sham plan, but does everyone also know that is who has structured the format basis of our "deer audit"? LOL. An audit whos basically sole purpose was supposed to address hunters high rate of dissatisfaction. Dissatisfaction caused by the deer plan AND AUDUBONS INPUT. Wll looky who pulled the harp strings on the audit. Being sure that it is not done in a way that might actually HELP hunter interests.

Our experience can best be described as bittersweet to this point. Probing questions have
gone unanswered and requests for information have been met with either silence or
autocratic attitudes.
Well imagine that. I hope they don't feel alone in a sea of chit, because there are many of us that have asked probing questions that have gone unanswered and/or been filled with doubletalk or more bullchit.

The request is from the Pa House Game and Fisheries Committee. So you posted a copy, so what? Whats your source for claiming anyones degree of influence including Audubon? In light of the recent exposure of your willingness to alter polls, you're going to have to produce some proof for what you claim here. A name handwritten at the top of a copy scanned into a computer provess nothing except that you want it to be so.[:'(]

Cornelius08 06-24-2009 01:46 PM

RE: PA DEER MANAGEMENT SEARCH ON YAHOO.

As we all know, you are the only one who has ever cheated on a poll (and were caught red handed like the boob you are LOL) and your pathetic attempt to discredit me because I continually bring it up and you wanna deflect from yourself, as well as from the topic at hand, is pretty comical and desparate to say the least.

The handwritten name isnt "proof". Proof wasnt needed, because its well known fact that he did indeed do so. LMAO. Everyone knows this. The man doesnt deny doing so jackarse, and its no big secret. LOL. The question is not at all wether he did or not, because he most certainly did. The question is "IS IT APPROPRIATE". And judging by your wishful thinking/uneducated denial of even any involvement on his part, Id say that speaks for itself. Even a pgc brownnoser such as yourself acknowledges it as inapppropriate.

Congratulations. How does it feel to have 6 or 7 of those dead brain cells firing all at once?

You should also try to stay up on the "political goings-on" and you won't embarrass yourself by pointing out how painfully little you really know like you did by making the comments you did. I cannot phathom what you are thinking when you choose to jump right in to defend pgcs honor, in regards to something you clearly knew nothing about...LOL

Just spent ten hours in the woods today getting ready for archery season. Did some pruning. Planted a few more trees. Fertilized some of the plants I planted in the past. Watched four different buck forabout twenty minutes. Seen two doe.One had triplets and eight turkeys. Yep,today was pretty much a wasted choice of my time.Should have listened to Windwalker7! ;)You'll have to excuse my ignorance,I'm just catching on to this computer stuff. :D

RE: PA DEER MANAGEMENT SEARCH ON YAHOO.

You said you were going to be patterning deer too.

So what did you figure out?

Is that Oak dropping acorns?

Did you find that fresh rubline?

Scrapes?

Are they hitting the apple trees yet?

Farmers usually rotate crops, how are they entering or leaving that cornfield this year?

Yeah, you did some patterning alright.

Show me where I said I was going to pattern deer today? Or tomorrow. Or next week or maybe next month. Where's that statement?

I believe I said, I'll let someone else sit on their arse all day at the computer and search the web-sites to see who all is cranky about the deer program. I'll spend my time looking for and pattering deer for this years harvest.

Sorry, can't find anything in that statement that specifically states when I'm going to pattern deer.

Yeah, you did some pointless and unfounded chirping alright![8D]

Just go back to your response when I posted pics of post AR bucks that were taken on public land. I am not going to waste mytime going back to look, but I think you implied those deer were not from this state.
