Pa license increase

This poll is not quite fair but it's written to balance the other one on this subject.

Is it reasonable to have a hunting license increase after 10 years without one and considering that PA's basic resident license feeis second to lowest of all the states that adjoin PA?

RE: Pa license increase

As a non resident PA hunter I know I pay more but I can understand both sides of the issue. In some area's there are plenty of deer, in others the hr have just flat out decimated the herd, 2G for example has lost the first few days of the rifle season to a buck only restriction. Is that due to the hr, partly yes, but I also feel that it is more due to the greed of the hunters. when 1 buck tag and two does tags aren't enough some feel that it is ok to get doe tags for themselves, their wife and their kids. Other's just flat out reuse their doe tag. To me that is poaching. Fortunately I have had the privilege to hunt a friend's private land the last few years and have been able to fill at least one tag the last few years. Other's that don't have that are limited to hunting state land as I had to before this private land became available. Personally I think an earn a buck system should be implemented. That is just my opinion but I feel that it is more realistic than issuing thousands of extra doe tags to decimate the herd.

Wow did you hit the target on the Greed. I have seen one group fill pickup trucks full in a day of huge drives in the past. But I think a earn a doe program would be better. Or even one deer per hunter ONLY. Either a buck or a doe only. UNO per person And a doe permit bought at the store. Doe tag 50.00

Hmm. Fair? I support a fee increase if and only if responsible changes are made...Which should I pick?? I dont support an increase as is, so cannot pick 1. Number 2 sounds like the same damn thing support it with no change made (basically support it,but sit and pout quietly). And I cannot pick 3, because im not against a fee increase no matter what! I guess I wont vote.

Thankfully in reality we hunters can voice our opinions to legislators and actually have reasonable options.

The options are every bit as reasonable as the choices in your poll. Neither one was created objectively. This one was created to provide balance to the biased poll you created and whattya know, the results are just what would be expected for both. LOL!

Cornelius08 04-04-2009 01:14 PM

RE: Pa license increase

Not even close. Your choices are rediculous and intended to get one result. Typical pgc supporterb.s.

You had options on mine. You know darn well the hunters of pa who are against a fee increase, most would not be if changes were made. Thats not even an option on your list. Not supporting at all would mean even if they made responsible changes you still wouldnt support.Doesnt make sense not to even give a choice to the viewpoint of most of the hunters of Pa! NOT supporting an increase IS an option realistically. Yet you DIDNT give it as one on your poll. I on the other hand left out no option.

Cornelius08 04-04-2009 01:17 PM

RE: Pa license increase

"the results are just what would be expected for both."

Not hardly. I count about the same amount of votes FOR increase on both... Yet those against on one did not yet vote on the other.

And as I said, here i am stuck with no option, so no vote. Wonder if others chose to ignore it as well?? I guarantee you it wasnt the ones who SUPPORT increase with NO CONDITIONS, as they had an option....in fact, the same onegiven twice...! LMAO!;)

BTBowhunter 04-04-2009 01:46 PM

RE: Pa license increase

There was no choice for many of us on your poll.

Objectivity seems as elusive to you as a 2.5 year old buck;)

BTW, as far as participation, as of this post, your poll, started yesterday, had 201 hits and 20 votes. This one started today and had 101 hits and 10 votes. Participation is about as equal as it gets.

Both polls could be made more objective by adding one more choice and the results are working out in support of that idea.

Cornelius08 04-04-2009 01:53 PM

RE: Pa license increase

There was no good option on your poll. The best was purposely left off. "I do not support a fee increase until changes are made". Thats exactly why the fee increase is being held up by legislators, yet you dont even give the option to support the actions taken! LMAO!!

There was an option for ANYONE on mine. If you "didnt always agree with pgc"BUT still support the fee increase without any changes, then you pick I SUPPORT A FEE INCREASE. Because even if you claim not to like this that or the other...yet still support it...Your are doing so UNCONDITIONALLY ANYWAY!! You may be the most twistin' sob Ive ever seen in my life! LOL

You left out a best choice on your pollas well. You left out: I support a license increase now but feel certain things need to be addressed as we move forward without tha blackmailor something along that line. Your choice of "I support an increase no matter what the PGC does" is just as ridiculous for many as the choice I left you.

Talk about twistin SOB's. All I did was twist back in kind for what you posted and now your panties are in a bunch again.

Don't go away mad! But a time out may be in order before you work your way into another full scale tantrum.

RE: Pa license increase

I agree. I support pgc getting mo' money no matter what they do is rediculous. And that is your position. SO why whine? Its a given choice. You cannot use your own discretion to ascertain wether you trust pgc or not to "do what is right" when they take our cash?? If you do....You pick I SUPPORT THE PGC FEE INCREASE! Its unconditional!!! IF you support is NOT unconditional, you pick I do not support unless CHANGES ARE MADE!

Are you slightly retarded?? My god man, noone can be this dense.

1st, thats not an option because if you trust pgc to do what is right without the blackmail as you call it, YOU SIMPLY PICK I SUPPORT PGC LICENSE FEE INCREASE, because its the same thing.

2nd, its not an option on my poll because its nomore appropriate and fair than if I had written "I dontsupport giving pgc any moneyto screw the hunters of our state over with as they have thus far." as a choice....;)

Its worded as fairly as is possible.

"Don't go away mad! But a time out may be in order before you work your way into another full scale tantrum. "

I said it from the beginning

The whole point was that it was as fair as Corny's poll.

Anyone who fails to see that BOTH polls are biased has blinders on. That was the point. I hope you can see that but if not, thats your problem!

Cornelius08 04-04-2009 02:29 PM

Only problem is, mine is 100% fair. Yours is about as unfair as it gets. It excludes the #1 most expressed viewpoint on the subject that exists.

RE: Pa license increase

Hmmm. Seems to me according to your poll, there are only 4 people FOR increase. The second selection doesnt say wether they are for or against it. Just says they have concerns and understand money is needed. I think we can all agree to that. I know pgc needs money, and I definately have concerns....Only some of us Support the increase, while many of us do not.;) What a dope! LMAO!

RE: Pa license increase

It has been slightly more then one full day since the legislation concerning a hunting license fee increase has been made public. In that time I am aware of three (3) polls on two different hunting message boards asking the hunters if they support the increase or not. It is rather interesting to see those results so I will post those results for all to see.

On this site alone there have been a total of 47 votes on the two separate polls. Here is the summary of those two polls:

11.…..23 %……..No increase votes
24.…..51 %……..Yes to the increase votes
12.…..26 %……..Maybe support an increase (qualified) votes

With the combination of the three separate polls there are a total of 107 votes. Here is the summary of all three polls.

22.…..21 %……..No votes
73.…..68 %……..Yes votes
12.…..11 %……..Maybe support an increase (qualified) votes

From this it seems pretty obvious that the majority do support a license increase. Even on this message board filled with USP and other anti-Game Commission people the majority say yes to a license increase while less then 25% stand totally opposed to the increase.

Now there is spinning of the facts at its finest.

Even Bluebird has never been that deceptive and illogical with numbers. Congratulations you have stuck a new level of both deceit and illogical nonsense.

Presently 61% of the people taking the poll on this topic support a license increase and only 38% are apposed to one.

Fortunately most readers aren't so foolish as to accept you misrepresentations of the facts even your own poll is showing, let alone thepoll in this topic.

Face it, you are wrong about what the majortiy of the hunters have to say and if they, in general, support the Game Commission misison and objectives or not.

for this poll 38% against. 33% for. Rest...maybe?And sorry, but maybe doesnt automatically slide into the "yes" column! LMAO.... For clarification, see the other poll which is more clearly worded, has more votes, and is clearly not in support of fee increase, especially with no reasonable changes made by pgc.;)

Combined, the polls are exactly as I stated above. Anyone who can add the other poll to this one, can see, as usual you are full of beans.

Not sure why we would "combine" the polls when one has many more votes, was here longer, is clearer worded, and both polls had many of the same voters.

BTBowhunter 04-05-2009 06:31 PM

RE: Pa license increase

Just to clarify my earlier statement about this poll being less than fair, the only choice worded unfairly is the last one. Absolutes are not generally fair because most find an absoluteon either side objectionable.

Corny's poll had only an absolute on the "for an increase" side so I worded the "against an increase" choice the same way.

Either poll would be more fair if both of the middle choices had been included.

Of course,Corny and the other naysayers and all their aliases will disagree but that should come as no surprise. Corny's poll was intended to be about as fair as one put up by Al Franken.

Cornelius08 04-05-2009 06:45 PM

RE: Pa license increase

"Corny's poll had only an absolute on the "for an increase" side so I worded the "against an increase" choice the same way. "

Your nitpicking at nothing. Its the glass half empty or half full. I said "do not support unless changes are made". I could have worded as I support as long as changes are made... Would have been the same thing though. They DONT support it because those changes havent been made. When and if they are, thats subject to change.

"Either poll would be more fair if both of the middle choices had been included. "

I disagree. Your "middle choice" was too vague. Plain and simple. You either want to find out what people want or you dont. And in that case, we have no idea!

"Corny's poll was intended to be about as fair as one put up by Al Franken."

For an unbiased poll on the subject there is absolutely no way it could have been worded better. It addresses our situation as it is. Do you support pgc fee increase unconditional, do you not support it until reasonable changes first, or do you not support it at all. No bs. No nonsense. No deceptive wording. The reason the fee is being withheld is accounted for in my poll also. You just dont like the results. Honestly I dont either. I dont think its even close to representing reality, Id say its a huge landslide against it.

BTBowhunter 04-05-2009 07:02 PM

RE: Pa license increase

You are quite simply delusional.

Each poll, as of the moment this is written, is in avirtual dead heat with the other. Each favors the intended result of the composer of the poll.

Sorry you don't like the results but the reality is that neither proves much of anything.

If it proves anything, it proves that even on the only forum that has become the hideout for all the anti PGC rejects that have been banned everywhere else, you cant muster the "majority" you claim is out there.

Someone sore about losing....again? I would say being wrong again, but I dont think you even believe half of what you say....Its all about putting on a show to acouple of you guys. Damage control.

Ive already posted the poll that showed 72% against...Even with an additional turkey stamp thrown in LMAO! Ive shown SEVERAL with extremely low pgc support from SEVERAL sites. And my poll on here shows majority against. Not as wide a margin in the real world due to all the pgc personell, dcnr guys and evironmental groups that post on some of these boards who make up a MUCH higher percentage of the population HERE than they do amongst the 900,000 hunters in our ranks.
The polls do not support pgc by any stretch of the imagination when I can post several from several different sites about pgc approval ratings. Also the majority of them are against fee increase.

BTBowhunter 04-06-2009 06:39 AM

RE: Pa license increase

All thats been proven here and with the one about an additional turkeytag with an increase is that the wording of any poll can direct the outcome. In that same poll with the turkey tag question, a straightforward question about an increase was favored by a two to one margin.

The other thing proven here is that youseem to beincapable of unbiased, objective thought and that you have your own hard boiled preconceived notions thatshort circuit any chance for intelligent debate .

I must have missed the link to the poll you are talking about that indicted a lack of support for a license increase. Please post the link again if you will.

There is another poll on another web site and when I checked it earlier this morning it had only one unbiased question; “Should the Game Commission be granted a license increase?” The only possible answer was either “yes” or “no.”

The results of that poll at that time of being checked this morning showed 76% voted for a license increase while only 24% said no. I suspect that is probably closer to the real sentiments of the average of hunters. The most informed, about the big picture of wildlife management, generally do support a license increase while the least informed and self centered hunters typically don’t.

RE: Pa license increase

Heres the link to the entire poll:

http://www.outdoortimes.com/pollmentor/pollmentorhist.asp

and a couple of the questions with their responses

Would you be in favor of a hunting license increase if it would include a second spring turkey tag with the license instead of buying the "special second spring gobbler tag"? ( Total votes:157 )

Yes
(21.7 %)
34 votes

No
(72.0 %)
113 votes

Doesn't matter
(6.4 %)
10 votes

Total votes: 157
Now a second related question to that question.........

Do you plan to buy the new $21 special wild turkey license to bag a second spring gobbler next year? ( Total votes:75 )

Yes
(6.7 %)
5 votes

No
(85.3 %)
64 votes

Undecided
(8.0 %)
6 votes

Total votes: 75

The question that corny claims shows a 72% majority against an increase clearly is worded in a way that indicates that a general increase would be intended primarily to allow that 6.7% who want to hunt a second turkey could do so without paying an extra fee

Now here's the question where the license increase is an worded as an uncluttered unbiased yes or no question .......

Currently introduced legislation would increase the cost of your General Hunting License 3 times in the next 7 years to help fund the PGC budget. Year 1 it would go up $5 and then $5 in year 4 and another $5 in year 7. Would you support these increases? ( Total votes:59 )

NO
(35.6 %)
21 votes

YES
(64.4 %)
38 votes

Total votes: 59

Notable also is that this poll is one where the partcipant can answer one, two or all of the questions and that questions get added over time. The last one shown here was far down the list because it was added long after the first two. Corny also makes an issue of the number of participants in each. If he could view a subject objectively, he would recognize that a question that has been available for a shorter time would naturally have fewer responses.

Most importantly, this demonstrates once again that the wording poll questions can often have a very strong influence on the outcome. The questioner can easily skew the results. Any fair minded personshould be able to see that.
