Yes, I agree 100%. The reason things arent even worse is pgc is due for an increase. The second they get it though, all bets are off. They'll be financially set for the next decade with absolutely NOONE to answer to. Its also gonna be more of the same, since they are trying to replace the antideer idiots on the pgc boardwhose terms have expired with exactly the same. Thats exactly why the legislators need to KEEP the pressure on and either make the ecofreaks say uncle or snap the damn agencies neck and be done with it. Im sure the legislators know that those responsible for doing this would be seen as a heroes to the sporting ranksnow and into the future as having saved our state from becoming like NewJersey or California.

Pgc has offered up nothing. Theyve also WEASELED out of the audit, hoping they can get the money before ever having to go through it, or not go through it at all. They use the excuse of not wanting to go through it while in a lawsuit, but all that does is make them look even MORE guilty!! Why not??? What do they have to hide that might be used against them in court if its turned up in an audit??

ok ok thanks for clearing that up. I did watch a little bit of something on pcn a few months ago. I just dont have time to keep up on it. I ususally come here to keep abreast. Well I will just keep hope they dont get the increase before they fix things..

IF that is how you feel, I strongly suggest emailing Ed Stabeck and the othermembers of the house fish and game committee and letting them know this. They need our support to continue on the quest for justice.(LOL):D

I guarantee you that the treehuggers are making their opinions known to them regularly.

It's because there are no areas around here that have game. It's either you hunt where there is little game or you don't hunt at all.

Mav,I don't know here you're speaking of so it's hard for me to have an opinion.I do know that I live and hunt in the WMU that has the lowest dd's and the lowest success rate per aquare mile in the state.i know many areas in this WMU that have very few deer.I also look at those areas and completely understand why.In most cases,there's really no reason for deer to be there,yet guys still hunt there and thancomplain that there's no deer.I hunt where there's food and cover and I find deer consistantly.Food sources can be spotty and they change constantlyu so Ihave to remain flexible throughout the seson.A hotspot one week can turn into a dud the next week.

And all of that is fine. No doubt with enough time, someone can locateand kill a deer. I won't pretend to know anything about anyone else's schedules but I know we've come along way from the days when folks had alot of leisure time. Those of us with enough time and effort will always find a deer or two. Those with busy jobs, family lives, etc are the one's getting screwed the most. The weekend or opening day crowd always are the blunt of everyone's joke about not getting their deer, but truth is they often just lack the time or in some cases the abilty to walk very far (older hunters.) Many of them would gladly take any buck includiing a spike. Whyare THEY getting screwed while the minority who blindly support HR and are fortunate to still be killing multiple deer a year are grinning? Opinions on this may vary, but successful deer hunting while often challenging, is still viewed as recreation by most. They work hard all year, and don't really feel they should have to scale rocky cliffs, ford rivers, and spend a hundred hours scouting just to see a couple of deer. Of course that's a blow to the pride of the self proclaimed deer hunting experts who think that anything short of a blood sacrifice to earn your buck is unworthy. Just go on HPA and claim you didn't get a buck and saw next to no deer and see what reaction you get. Glad to see a few sites out there still allow feedom of speech.

Good post SS. My brother's having a tough time of now after a life in a steel mill bled him dry. And I'd like it to be his choice if he wants to take a 4 pointer or pass on it. It's supposed to be a sport enjoyed by all of us, not just some of us. The fish commission established trophy trout and fly fishing only areas, and they are realbenefit to those who invest the time or have the time to learn about insects, fly tying, casting, etc. But they also offer so much opportunity for those who just want to dunk a worm in a trout stream on a Saturday morning. I happen to be one of those who ties flies and fly fishes and it would be very selfish of me to ask that every stream be a trophy trout/ffo stream. I feel the same way about antler restrictions.

I have never seen a post on small game or upland birds here on these forums. If PA is so great for hunting why is there no talk or pictures of small game animals or birds? It is allways talk of deer and their decline. It's because PA sucks for small game animals

Instead of complaining about it do what I do. Get your self a .17 rem or 22-250, get a caller, and in January and Febuary when its 18 degrees outside go out and hunt predators. Quality hunting is a year round comitment.
