RE: Its a great day in PA
Used a turtle soup recipe to use up some gator jaw meat that was pretty tough and it worked out great!

That's why I never tried making myself, heard it was a pain in the butt! My neighbor was another Yule Gibbons! This guy lived off and ate anything. I really appreciated that the time he put in to catch and prepare those turtles for soup and would always bring me 3 to 4 quart jars. [/align]

I've always enjoyed eating birds over mammals, A grouse beats the hell outta turtle as do fresh crappie fillets. But when I worked in Texas rattle snakes were every where and were damn good eating.
Now if Texas knew what good beer was I might think about going back for a visit.[:-] Course I've forced myself to settle for eating those old chewy bucks so I guess I ain't to picky.;) |

That pic is along a snowmobile trail in a wintering ground where they traditionally feed deer. The deer travel from a wide area to take advantage of the handout.
It is near Portage Wisconsin. |

Thanks for sharing such a neat Pic Greg.
It's obvious that those deer have been very well conditioned to the feeding. They appear to be in excellent health in spite of a seemingly pretty harsh place in winter. |
