I give him credit Bob. Those are some great bucks for the time period they were taken. I also wonder about the blur.
I knew of a guy [dead now]that owned a lot of posted ground and shot bucks like them out of the upstairs bathroom window for decades.
I don't think anybody denied that there were 2-1/2 year old bucks back then. Private property has always played a role.
The big bucks were where you found them.

You are right though, he does have a few nice ones in there
My point was they were really great bucks for the time period in question. I will say that again...
They were really great bucks for the time period in question.

What was you and your Dad's secret for consistently producing high end bucks during that time period Corny??

Dad was an avid trapper, hunter and fished. I went checking traps, along as an observer hunting and fished all from VERY early age. But I didnt get in on the real hunting action till very early in 1980s. I was too young to hunt in the 70's. but dad and a few of hisbrothers + grandpap spent ALOT of time in the woods rifle season. They also did lots of 4 to6 man drives.

They did some archery hunting, but deer numbers in the area was pretty low and of course at that time, they used recurves, killed a few doe and a small buck every now and then, but not regularly by any stretch. Rifle hunting was their thing.

Dads the only one whoREALLY got into archery hunting. And I loved it immediately. No big secrets to success. Just spending tons of time since early ages in the woods, in my case, having a good teacher and knowing very wellthe lands you hunt and how the deer as well as other hunters use them.

Gotta give alot of credit to the "ol man though. Even now that I sometimes mistakenly believe i "know it all"That ol' coot still does things that make me shake my head, and can pick what at first appears to be the very worst spots, and ends up the best on the property.(LOL)

All sarcasm aside,it's good to see a guy look up to his father.I Hope you guys have many more yearsin the woods together. Some of the best memories I have of my father are the ones we shared while hunting. It's still tough for me to go back and hunt some of those hills.

Yeah. I know what ya mean Doug. Grandad passed onseveralyears ago in his late 80's, and hunted till the year he died. While I miss him and all, I really feel bad for my dad when we are wandering through the woods and pass what used to besome of HIS dads favorite spots. He doesnt talk about it or anything. But I know its gotta be tough. I know I'll be in HIS place soon enough and its not something Im looking forward to. Im Pretty sure that'll be the time I start hunting completely different areas.

WMU's 4B and 5B (me on the right) checkin' in!
(just because )

I absolutely believe that 2G picture........I was basically called a liar earlier this year because a buddy and I spotted several P&Y quality bucks from the Sproul State forest one of which looked eerily similar to that one on the bottom right.
And it took us all of 1hr to find them on State forest!

Those lists are published shortly after each scoring session which has been intermittent lately. They used to do it on a fairly regular basis.(Every couple of years)I'll see if I can come across the interval.
