I'm gonna guess 175 dressed and 215 live. That guy is a brute!


The other thing is that he is most definitely rutted out hard. I wouldn't be surprised if his pre rut weight was 50-60 or more poundshigher. In the first pic, you can see the ridge of his spine through the hide and in the second pic, his hindquarters look slightly disproprtionate to his chest size which I've seen before in mature bucks that were really run down after the rut.

Nice looking deer. I guess155 field dressed. The body isn't that long when you compare to the gun. Nice shoulders but pretty light in the rear end.

Guess I'll take a stab at it too....I figure the guy weighs 180 or more...the deer appears to be heavier by some amount. A fair amount. The front shoulders are huge. I'll guess 167 field dressed...

All you guys, here is a handy dandy chart you can use for a quick guesstimate of you deer's weight.

Deer Weight Tape
Instructions: Measure around deer chest behind front leg elbow. Read weight from chart below.
Accurately Calculate Deer Weight by the Heart Girth Measurement Method.
By using a tape measue you can determine the weight of your deer. The girth of the deer is measured in inches, just behind the forelegs.
The heart girth measure measurment is converted to pounds in the chart below. If you do not have a tape measure, use a string. Draw the string tightly around the deer's chest, then measure the string with a ruler.

i have seen 200lb deer before on a deer farm. what people forget is that they bulk on fat during the winter.1lb of fat compared to 1 lb of muscle in mass = the fat takes up 18% more room than muscle does. them deer are mostly fat and then lighter than actually if they was muscle. also have you ever cut up your own deer?one rear quarter does not go 25 lbs alone. its not hard to figure out if you ever butchered your own animals. fat weighs less than muscle. i do believe we have true 200lb deer here in pa. but they are very rare to see. in my time butchering, i have yet to see a 200lb dressed out buck. 195 was the closest and it was a monster that many would guess 300+.

actually i done this 7 years ago for 3 years for extra money to help pay for my aviation training. so i should have more knowledge than those who just shoot and send them off to the butcher. but what would i know, i just fly jumbo jets?
