Disgusting...

Our neighboring property, Correctional Institute, just had their two day doe only slaughter this week. Lots of shots and a good number of deer taken. I drove by where they have their check station and there, laying on the bed of a game commission truck was a bruiser of a buck. Wish I had a camera guys. This thing was enormous. Wide enough in fact that the left side was even with the top of the bed rails. Lord knows how many points it had.

The disgusting thing is, some "hunter" shot it. This was only supposed to be a doe hunt. Either the guy is blind, because there is absolutely no way you'd miss head gear like that, or he's an *@#hole and shot it on purpose. I'm friends with a couple of guys that work for the prison and they said it was a mistake kill. Unbelievable.

No wonder gun hunters get a bad rap. A few idiots like that make all of us look bad.

What authority would the game commission have to conviscate it?The guy broke a rule for that piece of property butthat doesn't mean he broke a game law.

Sorry ,but last time I checked, the PGC controls all the deer hunts even on private property since the property owners do not own the deer that live on it.Any hunt on private property hunting state deer has to be approved and run by the PGC under their rules.

RE: Disgusting...

Fellas2 is correct. The PGC has complete authority to control special hunts on state owned property. The PGC "sponsors" these hunts.

On two occasions while doe hunting, in the past, I had harvested the deer that I wasn't aiming at. While squeezing the trigger another deer stepped into the line of fire. This accounted for one of my two button buck kills.

I'd give this hunter the benefit of the doubt, these things can and do happen.

No, that that back in the 60's and 70's, you know when hunters hunted from the ground. Now hunters ambush them from the air, so I guess it's possible for your explantion to happen.

Button bucks maybe, not rackedbuck or doe! We have a toilet seat in our camp for button shooters that their pictures stay in there until the next year! Good reminder fpor all!

What are the chances of killing a future BB if you harvest an adult doe that is bred and will produce twins? Then, what are the chances of harvesting a BB if you shoot the first legal antlerless deer you see?

The chances of killing a Button Buck are evidently 5 out 0f 6 if you hunt with Bluebird2 and company

No..that was Deaddeer.
Your getting them mixed up again, Bob.
Try to keep them organized in a timeline, makes it simpler.

I stand corrected. You are right Greg. My only excuse is that there are so many AKA's for this guy that it's easy to get confused!

If mistaken kills didn't happen, then why would they post mistaken deer killed in game book? I have seen a couple bucks killed during doe season as they stepped in front of a doe and on the other side of does, also running shots at a herd of deer has seen bucks drop accidental. It does happen.Especially with beginners.

in my honest "O". there is no such thing as a mistake kill when it comes to a shooting a rack buck for a doe , even when running you better be sure what the heck your shooting at. i mean wtf havent you ever been told be sure of your target and whats behind and around it ? if you give me the excuse that i was just about to shoot this doe and the buck walked in FRONT of her i would take your damn lic, away pay the hell attention of what your doing you cant bring that bullet back after you pull the trigger ,
now shooting a bb for a small doe is an honest mistake !
