Great Job moose1915, those are creatures of beauty..
Sproulman, I have only seen but 1 so far in my lifetime around this area. There is a place just a few hundred miles or so northeast of here that raises them for release in Northern Canada. The one I had seen they thought may have come from there. So even up here they are very rare to be seen.. This one hung around for a few days to watch a field and catch mice before moving on..

Good work Moose. Hunters are the true conservationists. Pay no attention to Sproulman. He is afraid of the dark, terrorfied of the woods and hasn't shot a thing in years since all the animals in his part of the world are killed by genetically altered predators released by the game commission to torment him.

How do you know those rabbits were killed by owls? Did the owls leave tracks and can you identify owl tracks on frozen ground? how do you count the rabbits you have? Can you tell the difference between rabbits so you don't count the same rabbits twice? Do some rabbits have longer ears or do they leave different tracks? Did the owls kill half of your rabbits, 20% or 100%?

a owl will rip the stomach out of rabbit most times before it flys away.
feathers are on ground from owl.
owl will pull the hair out of rabbit, you will see balls of hair on ground, if you see that, its OWL.
owls mostly kill rabbits in winter, why, because they eat mice etc more in summer.
when snow flys, the only food for owl is GROUSE,SQUIRREALS,POSSUMS,RABBITS.
i seen owls kill stocked pheasants too.
a fox will kill a rabbit and leave.
a owl will sit there and pull the hair out of rabbit and guts too at times.
i saw possum go by my bedroom window inthe claws of owl.
he was screaming, it was awful thing to see.

same with coyotes , phil, as you know.
most of time, coyotes kill mice but when a fawn is being born or after, they are killing machines.
i hate them for that.

The snowy owl and great horned owl are killing machines. Sometimes it seems they just kill a rabbit orwhatever just for the fun of it.
