I hunt L.I.....mostly waterfowl, but a little bowhunting also..I havent been upstate to hunt in years...I am too busy butchering deer and doing taxidermy during rifle season..

RICH,
Ive seen your name listed at C&B Archery, in Hicksville. thats the proshop i goto. I will be attempting longisland bow hunting for the first time, well bow hunting in general for the first time. I was looking forward to some pointers/tips as to what locations to try out, being my first time.
well hopefully i will be visiting you for some taxidery work.

Hey i also hunt the island, The thing about the island is it has to be one of the harder places in NY tohunt,first of all public land deer reallyknow how to pattern people, and its so insanley thick every where you go, a 20 yard shot is aboout all you can get ifyour lucky...Also i go to C&B all the time, we shot a wed. night tourney there at 3d targets, it was fun, it starts up again in january, you guys should join.

The best tip i can give you chris is buy a climber treestand, these deer are to smart to hunt on the ground, also check out rocky point, its the biggest area on the island to hunt and theres some nice deer. Check out the DEC sight it will tell you where it is and all that stuff. If you want to hunt soon i would check it out now cause you need parking permits and all that fun stuff.

I also hunt LI but I lost my hunting club this year. Back to the public land I guess. It is tough but there are many big deer in LI.

Rocky point properties ive been to once or twice in the past, bird hunting, and spooked some deer while through the woods. i cant remember the spots i was at. if ya feel like being a nice ol pal and wanna send me a Pm with a secret spot, ill be sure to buy ya a dinner at my diner sometime! =]

I was at a gun show all weekend, with the girls from C+B archery..helped them load the truck and we split a pizza..they are such nice people...
