I hunt L.I.....mostly waterfowl, but a little bowhunting also..I havent been upstate to hunt in years...I am too busy butchering deer and doing taxidermy during rifle season..

Ive seen your name listed at C&B Archery, in Hicksville. thats the proshop i goto. I will be attempting longisland bow hunting for the first time, well bow hunting in general for the first time. I was looking forward to some pointers/tips as to what locations to try out, being my first time. well hopefully i will be visiting you for some taxidery work. take it ez -Chris |

I was looking forward to some pointers/tips as to what locations to try out, being my first time. well hopefully i will be visiting you for some taxidery work. take it ez -Chris Hey i also hunt the island, The thing about the island is it has to be one of the harder places in NY tohunt,first of all public land deer reallyknow how to pattern people, and its so insanley thick every where you go, a 20 yard shot is aboout all you can get ifyour lucky...Also i go to C&B all the time, we shot a wed. night tourney there at 3d targets, it was fun, it starts up again in january, you guys should join. The best tip i can give you chris is buy a climber treestand, these deer are to smart to hunt on the ground, also check out rocky point, its the biggest area on the island to hunt and theres some nice deer. Check out the DEC sight it will tell you where it is and all that stuff. If you want to hunt soon i would check it out now cause you need parking permits and all that fun stuff. |

I also hunt LI but I lost my hunting club this year. Back to the public land I guess. It is tough but there are many big deer in LI.

which hunting club did you belong to and what happened? BarofSoap Rocky point properties ive been to once or twice in the past, bird hunting, and spooked some deer while through the woods. i cant remember the spots i was at. if ya feel like being a nice ol pal and wanna send me a Pm with a secret spot, ill be sure to buy ya a dinner at my diner sometime! =] |

I was at a gun show all weekend, with the girls from C+B archery..helped them load the truck and we split a pizza..they are such nice people...

I belonged to this club and last year some of the old guys would whine that there were too many hunters. It was 15 guys for 170 acres and rarely did more then 5 or 6 guys hunt at the same time. There was soooo much land to hunt especially during bow season. Anyway I was told that somebody ripped up the property with quads during the summerso they had to cut it down to 10 guys. Yeah what the hell does that have to do with too many guys??? I know it makes no sense.I was low on the totem pole so i and 5 other good guys got the boot. If u ask me it was a bunch ofBS and they were just obliging the whiny old guys.
Hey RulZu i can hook you up with some good spots. I am always looking for another hunting buddy. |

Today looks like it turned out to be a nice day, i hope you guys who went out do good, i dont even think i will be able to hunt the island for 2 or 3 weeks because of work :(...

WELL my first ever BOW HUNT, went.. ehhh.. it poored for about 45 min. not too bad. but being I havent been to those neck of the woods, and all lots were full i made due on one lot. went in woods, was dark put climber stand WHICH I HATE, im terrified of this thing, even though i have the saftey harness i really dont think i could use it again. Anyway.. picked out a nice tree. after sun comes up i realize i cant see past 15 yards MAX. too many trees, leafes. VERY VERY THICK where i went. but.. i did hear and see, and witness a parade not more than 5 yards under me of about 40 TURKEYS.. yeah.. no shi***
anyways.. i went from 5am-12:30 couldnt do anymore since i went straight from work last night, which ended at 1:30. got home showered, packed car, drove there, took 45 min nap in car.. i was Tooo Exausted! anyway i need a dictionary... the hell with it.. im tired and gonna go pass out! lataz.. talk to ya soon boyz |

I also hunt long island and shelter island i have only been out twice since i am hurting for time with a new kid and all i am hopeing to get out more next weekend all i have seen are a few does and a decsent 8 in the distance thats about it.. Oh and a cat and some gobblers

Hey i was just thinking, do any of you guys here want to set up an allday or weekend LI publicland hunt? You know we could all get together early morning and pull an all day hunt maybe even two days on the weekend. I realize that many hunters especially in LI do not like to give up there honey holes but I am more about the commradery and bonding. I hate hunting by myself. When i had my hunting club it was so much fun hanging out and trading stories. Itmakes going home empty handed a lot more fun. Heck, who says we can start a public land hunting club of our own. there is plenty of land out there. If you are trulyinterested please pm me. I will set it up. I will be away this weekend hunting in MD but I will definitely get on it when i return on Monday. If u are interested pm me.

Hi, Ive hunted Rocky Point 3 times already, its good hunting, especially in the cornfield area on the south side of whiskey road. Just make sure to spray your clothes beforehand with some good tick spray & get your free dec access permit and your good to go.
