Yes sir, I am aware that individual states are different, I was refering to WV only.

sixgunluvr Sorry I misunderstood. I sure don't mean to disrespect anyone. As a NYS licensed guide, I have to make sure clients are legal. I have had a client get mad at me when told him he had to leave his handgun in the safe. It is always good to here what the laws are in other states. Thanks for the info on WV.

Federal law over rules state or county laws and President Bushsigned that bill back in 2001 after 9-11 that says that cops can carry there firearms anywhere anytimein any state. So, that is a higher law then NY DEC laws so they can do that.

Now not all DEC might not know that but I don't think they would hassel another LEO over it.

The devil is always in the details, below is a link to the law that you stated. As with all laws, there is "spirit of a law" and "letter of a law" which is frequently up to the LEO to interpret and enforce. Let me give you and example of that.It is illegal to sell wild game animals in NY. As an outfitter, I wanted to offer hunts based on a Daily rate then a trophy fee if an animal was harvested. I felt that this offered a level of trust to my clients andthat I didn't just want their money and not provide quility hunting. When I presented this to the DEC, I was told that since it could be interpreted that I was selling game animals, they would cite me and I would have to let the courts decide. The same could be true for theLEO carrying will bow hunting. Though as I stated earlier, I am sure a professionalcourtesy would be extended, it could be cited and you need to let the courts decide. The ECO I spoke to said even he couldn't carry! So clearly he interpreted the law differently than you.
Personally, I really do not have a dog in this fight. Each person will have to read and interpret. Look how much trouble they have with the second amendment. It is pretty straight forward to us eh!
