That's what I have been saying for years. Hunting whitetail's is safer than turkey hunting IMO.

this did finally pass. this should be a great year for youth's in the woods. now 14 and 15 year old kids will be able to gun hunt with their families this year instead of sitting on the sidelines

New York State Rifle & Pistol Association Thanks Gov. Patterson for Signing Mentored Hunting Program Bills

TROY, NY (07/24/2008; 0743)(readMedia)-- Companion bills A-11033 and S-8228 have just been signed by Governor Patterson. This legislation creates a junior big game mentored hunting program for 14-15 year olds in which they can hunt with firearms while under the supervision of an experienced adult hunter. The New York State Rifle & Pistol Association thanks Gov. Paterson for signing the bill, which represents a very positive first step in making hunting more available to juniors. The NYSRPA hopes to work closely with the Governor and Legislature on these issues in the future.

This is great news. I never thought Peterson would sign it.

does anyone know if this bill includes lowering the age for bow hunters? I have a 12 year old that has been waiting to bow hunt.

I thought when this bill first came up in the syracuse sports page they talked about it lowering the bow age to 12. It might have been wishful thinking on my part[&o].

I just reread the bills text and it says 14 and 15 year olds for junior archery . I've been writing the legislators for years now to lower the age but it's no use TOO many from New York City to get anything good for us . I'm amazed that this bill passed
